Rogue and Gambit relationship was complicated at best, doesn’t help Gambit was a flirt but doesn’t fully commit and Rogue was too scared to start a relationship because of her abilities and found Magneto comforting because he can handle it. Yes, flaunting the relationship during the dance was a bit much but still.
And Xavier didn’t “abandon” the X-Men, he was dying and Lilandra was the only one who could help him. And reason he didn’t return because he thought his X-Men were fine and happy (and had no reason to doubt it, he can’t always be with them forever). And whether you agree with Magneto or not, his plan would still cause further harm and death, even angering the humans who are mixed at Mutants at the moment. Yes, he shouldn’t have possessed him, but what other choice he had. And what about Scott? He shot Xavier to help his wife and son, but that could doom humanity and mutant kind further
