I just got the same notification. I too have had a valid email address and have been here since 2012.
Finding it suspicious, I just put in an email I don't use much instead of using my old address.

I, too, have had this problem. I just changed to a new email address with no problems since.

okay, so the reason it wasn't letting me add my email address was because I'd set up a temporary account to talk to mods after getting locked out of my main account, an older one that didn't require an email. I'd since forgotten I'd even made that account
so what I had to do was delete that temporary account, and that freed up my email to add to my main

Jade Eyes 1, if it says the email is already in use it must be tied to another account. If you PM me I can tell you what the account is.
As for the pop up in general, im working on a way to allow older users to disable it if they don’t care to have one so it won’t be an annoyance. But as others have said you can enter in a random or unused email address to make it go away until I push up that update. Thank you for your patience.

Turns out I have a secondary account I don't even remember making, to which my main email address is registered. I've attempted to reset my password six times now on the secondary account; each time, the temporary password didn't work. I'm about to say "screw it" and just assign an old email to this account.
EDIT: Couldn't do that, either. It says THAT address is already in use...even though I tried to make an account with that address two years ago, and was told I couldn't. On the seventh try, it finally allowed me to reset my password; I had to delete my secondary account, which allowed me to link my main email address to this one.

The popup doesn't even accept my email address as valid. The domain name is @q.com, and some sites don't like that single-letter name.
Glad it's not just me - I had that today on going to the site. I checked the return email address for the confirmation email was a valid one for the tvtropes mods, and thought "okay, if that's what they want, I can trust them with it, I've been here since 2011" and wondered if this was some sort of "refresh" or a security check that happens from time to time. So it's a bug, and not some sort of periodic refreshing of permissions?

No it’s not a bug. We are asking everyone who doesn’t have an email to enter one so that if they get locked out of their account they can do password recovery. Older accounts were allowed to register without one but without an email address you can be permanently locked out of your account and we can’t help you get back in without one.

Ah, thanks for that, kory. Much appreciated. I assumed this was some sort of periodic security check or a refresh - lots of sites do this, after all - so I confirmed my email address, which is the one I've been using since before 2011, the one I first used to sign up to TVT (at least, I'm sure I would have been asked to give an email address at the time, but this was 13 years ago). After confirming this, no further issues.

Every time I refresh or open a new page, I get a notification that I don't have an email address and need one to use the site. This is bizarre, as: 1) I've had a valid email address for years, 2) I haven't changed my address recently, and 3) I can still edit without any issue.
When I try to enter my current address, I'm told it's already in use. I also cannot send a report to the Admins: when I fill out the forms and verify that I'm not a robot, clicking SEND does nothing. Is anyone else having these issues?
