Literature / Jeff The Killer's True Orgins

Go To

A rewrite of Jeff The Killer (2011) by Sykokillah. It was published on Spinpasta, it was also published as an older draft on JTK Wiki.

Tropes:

  • Abusive Parents:
    • Jeff's father Peter physically abuses Jeff for trying to defend his mother.
    • The JTK version also has Peter beat Jeff as well.
  • Adaptational Context Change: Jeff's phrase "Go to sleep" is used after killing his father, as his brother Liu is already dead at the hands of Randy. Jeff had previously used the phrase while hearing his father abuse his mother.
  • Adaptational Abomination: Jeff is not a mundane killer, having supernatural abilities from a demonic deal.
  • Adaptational Wealth:
    • Instead of the Woods family moving into a "fancy" neighborhood due to a promotion, they move into a run down neighborhood and a cheap apartment due to not being able to maintain their house.
    • The original versions of Randy, Troy, and Keith are also quite well off, but these versions life in the same run down apartment.
  • Age Lift: Randy, Troy, and Keith are young adults instead of teens.
  • Asshole Victim:
    • Randy, Troy, and Keith are all killed by Jeff for killing Jeff's brother Liu.
    • Jeff's father Peter was killed for abusing his son Jeff and his wife Margert.
  • The Bully:
    • Greg demands money from Jeff and Liu for "talking to his girl" despite them not knowing Greg and attacks Jeff for not giving him enough money. His parent's attempt to charge Jeff fail due to Greg's reputation.
    • Randy, Troy, and Keith repeatedly bully Jeff and Liu, leading to the fatal mugging of Liu.
  • Composite Character:
    • Randy is the one who greets the Woods family into their new neighborhood instead of Barbara.
    • In the JTK version Jeff gets into a fight with a group of unnamed bullies, in the Spinpasta version it is one bully named Greg.
  • Deadpan Snarker: When Liu claims he has no money, Randy mockingly replies: "Oh really, then why do you have a list of groceries? Did you expect that you would just get them for free?".
  • Spared By Adaptation: The JTK wiki version has Jeff knock out a restaurant employee, but the Spinpasta story has Jeff kill him.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation:
    • Randy, Troy, and Keith kill Liu instead of Jeff.
    • Instead of killing Randy, Troy, and Keith in self defense, he ambushes them and kills them in their apartment.
  • Decomposite Character: Greg takes the role of Randy, Troy, and Keith as Jeff and Liu's initial bully. The trio does bully Jeff and Liu later on, leading to the fatal mugging of Liu.
  • Domestic Abuser:
    • Jeff's father Peter is physically and sexually abusive to his wife Margert after the death of their son Liu. Having to listen to this abuse leads to Jeff killing Peter.
    • The JTK version does not mention the molestation, but does state that Peter hurt Margaret for trying to defend Jeff.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Randy greets the Woods family into the neighborhood, only to whisper threats to Jeff.
  • Gang of Bullies
    • Randy has his sidekicks Troy and Keith as well as unnamed cronies. Their harassment of Jeff and Liu leads to the latter's murder.
    • The JTK version has a group of boys attack Jeff and Liu for not paying them.
  • Named by the Adaptation: In the JTK version Jeff gets into a fight with a group of unnamed bullies, in the Spinpasta version it is one bully named Greg.
  • Social Circle Filler: Randy is introduced talking to a group of people, and Troy and Keith are referred to as "two of his friends", but none of these other friends are anywhere to be seen when Jeff gets his revenge.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: The JTK version has Jeff kick a kid in the chin, "like the WWE wrestler, Shawn Michaels".
