Old Magnificent Bastard thread

Welcome to the Magnificent Bastard proposal thread! This is the thread where new Magnificent Bastard examples are vetted, approved, and written up. If you're looking for the general cleanup thread (for cuts, rewrites, expansions, and the like), please go here

Important: Before suggesting any new examples, please read the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List; if you have any questions, the odds are high they are answered there. Additionally, please check here for the earliest date a work can be discussed (usually two weeks from the U.S. release date) and whether the work has already been reserved by another user.

Here is how the process works:

    Process

  1. If you have a candidate to propose, you can simply come right in and propose them! If the character's run is brief, such as a single issue of a comic book, then a simple summary of their actions and any potential mitigating features will be enough; for longer-running candidates, an effortpost (EP) might be helpful for organizing the proposal. An EP is not outright required, but please be mindful that if a post becomes too clunky and unorganized, it can be very hard for other people to follow.

  2. After the proposal, there will be a 72-hour discussion and voting period, where people may ask questions and vote on the candidate. The number of upvotes must outnumber the downvotes by at least five for the character to be considered "approved".

  3. Three days after the proposal has been made, if the character has been approved, you may post the writeup (the text to be posted on the trope page itself) on the thread and send it to the drafts page. Your candidate will soon be added to the MB subpage. If the work has a page, you should add your candidate to the relevant YMMV page. Voila! It's that simple!

Outside of this process, we do have a few ground rules:

    Ground Rules

  1. To keep the thread moving at a reasonable pace, there are some restrictions on when a proposal can be made. There should only be a maximum of four EPs posted both per page and per hour to ensure that nothing gets lost in the shuffle; additionally, each individual troper should only be proposing or writing up characters from a maximum of three works at a time (from initial proposals to end of their voting period). If your proposal would fall outside of either of these guidelines, we'd like to ask you to please wait until they would fit within; feel free to type them up on an outside document, and then when the time comes, you can just copy, paste, and post!

  2. No plagiarism of any kind. This is a very serious matter site-wide, as the website could get in actual legal trouble over this; as a result, this can very quickly lead to mod intervention. This can take many different forms:
    1. Direct plagiarism, i.e. wholesale copying. This is not only the easiest to find, but is also the most likely to warrant quick moderator intervention. To be clear, quoting in some places is perfectly acceptable, but it has to be very clear you're quoting from something else and it cannot be anything longer than a sentence or two - if you're quoting an entire work summary from Wikipedia, no one is going to believe you've actually consumed the work, so even if you cite your source, your candidate will be downvoted anyway.
    2. Self-plagiarism. Even if you can prove that you wrote the same text in both places, the site itself can't contain any of the duplicated text. If you already wrote something once before, it's not too hard to write it a second time.
    3. Using another site's work as a template for a proposal. Just because you don't copy and paste something directly doesn't mean it's any harder to detect if you're basing parts or all of your proposal on text someone else wrote. To be clear, this doesn't violate site rules and won't lead to mod intervention, but just like if you directly plagiarize, no one will believe you've consumed the work if you're clearly basing your proposal on something else. This thread largely operates on the honor system, and tweaking someone else's work to pass it off as your own is one of the fastest ways to lose trust.

  3. Votes must be for specific candidates, meaning no blanket voting (i.e. "yes to everyone I missed").

  4. If you are the first person to downvote a candidate, please provide an explanation of why when you do so. We're here for discussions above all, and a hit-and-run downvote doesn't facilitate anything.

  5. If a work is already reserved by another user, please don't comment on the work or any potential characters worth discussion before the discussion date. We know how exciting it is when a work has a keeper that you're waiting to talk about, but it's not fair to the person who reserved the work who is just as excited to lead the discussion to see the discussion getting spoiled before they get to do it. On the other hand, if the reservation only has one name attached, shoot them a PM - they may be down for a collaboration, which will get you in on the fun as well!

  6. Please keep the thread on-topic. While discussing the trope is fun and we encourage people to enjoy it, questions like "who's your favorite MB" are off-topic and can lead to thumps. That's the kind of question to take to people's PMs if they're willing. Similarly, while we encourage friendliness and familiarity with other users, posts should always have some kind of thread-relevant purpose; for instance, if you want to wish someone a happy birthday, feel free to, but if it's the only thing in the post, it's off-topic and needs something else alongside it. Again, though, while we strive for a friendly atmosphere, this is not Facebook; life updates are fun, but unless they have some kind of impact on your thread participation, please do not bring it here - we have Yack Fest for that.

  7. Please refrain from asking anything along the lines of "How Did We Miss This One?" In almost every case, the answer is simply "No one thought about it before". This Is a Wiki where everyone has different interests, and the fact that people missed a particular candidate, even one that seems like a textbook example of a trope or a character who is particularly iconic in pop culture, means absolutely nothing. The question is disruptive, has a simple and consistent answer, and provides nothing to any discussion.

  8. If you are suspended from other parts of the website, it is still possible to participate!
    1. For users who are suspended from editing the wiki, you still have full access to this thread. You can propose candidates and write them up with no issues whatsoever; while you will have to ask someone else to post the entry to the relevant pages once it is done, all write-ups are considered thread-approved - as in, done by consensus - and thus doing so does not violate any rules regarding meatpuppeting.
    2. If you are suspended from the forums, your participation is limited but not impossible. It is still possible for a forum-suspended user to assist in creating the write-up for a character who has already been approved; as previously mentioned, write-ups are inherently considered a consensus-based edit and thus not tied to any one particular user. However, you can not assist in the proposal of a character; as a proposal is based around the forum rather than the wiki, doing so with a forum suspension qualifies as meatpuppeting.

  9. Please keep all discussions "in-house".
    1. What other wikis use for MB equivalents is irrelevant here.
    2. Please be wary of using other wikis, Fandom or otherwise, as sources of information. They are just as fallible as a site like Wikipedia in regards to accuracy because they can be edited by any user, just as this site can.
    3. Do not attempt to force a communication with an author in an attempt to gather evidence or settle a debate; besides the fact that this is a YMMV trope and thus author intent has variable weight depending on the circumstance, doing so may cross the line into drama exportation, which is prohibited site-wide.

If you would like to use an EP for your candidate, here's the general format. This format does not have to be followed exactly, but these are the main topics that need to be covered:

    Effortpost Template

What is the work?

This is a brief summary of the work you're going to discuss. We don't need a full plot summary here, just however much we need to understand going into the discussion — it can even be as simple as quoting the summary on the work's page.

Who is the candidate and what have they done?

This is essentially the character's biography — who they are, their story, their goals and methodology, and, preferably (though not required), what happens to the candidate at the end. It does not have to include every single thing they ever do — for some characters, we'd be here all day if that was the case — but it should include the highlights of their journey.

How are they Magnificent?

This is the point where you highlight the character's brilliance. How to they convey their intelligence and charm to the audience? What makes them stand out among the crowd? What are their goals and how do they go about accomplishing them? This part welcomes a lot of creative thinking — not everyone has to be a Machiavellian Diabolical Mastermind to be worth considering here! This is also the time to showcase how the character can think on their feet if it's necessary.

How are they a Bastard? How are they not too bad?

What kinds of moral lines is this character willing to cross for the sake of their goal? Are they willing to let innocents die? Start wars? Commit crimes? The character has to show some kind of unscrupulousness in order to count as a "Bastard". Notably, this character does not necessarily have to be the villain, and an Anti-Hero can cross the line if they're immoral enough, but they have to be immoral somehow.

This is also the section where you then state your case for why they're not too bad. Perhaps their good intentions help mitigate their crimes. Perhaps others are shown to be much worse than them. Perhaps they're prone to Pet the Dog moments or are even fighting on behalf of loved ones. Whatever the case, there are certain lines that an MB can't cross, but as long as their villainy is reasonable for their goal, they can be considered.

Final verdict?

This is where you post your final conclusion on the character in question. You can continue elaborating on your reasons or even just say a simple "yes" or "no"; at this point, we've heard everything we need to hear.

And that's everything you need to know. Welcome to the thread!

Here’s a candidate I’ve had on my mind for a while, so here goes nothing.

What’s the Work?

We're heading back to Road Kill for this one. Today we'll be covering Volume 6's “Doll 538”, by Sonny Zae.

Suzee Scarface is a sweet little doll who has had many owners in the past, whom she has often helped with their issues. But one little girl, Marilee Morrow, proves to be her most challenging yet, with her mother proving to be a constant pain thanks to her terrible job and her alcoholism. Suzee hopes to give Marilee the courage needed to stand up to her mother and talk it out with her...

Nah, I'm just kidding. It's a lot more complicated than that.

Who is She?

Suzee Scarface, the titular Doll 538, is a sentient doll who seeks the best for her owners, looking to help them take down the sources of their problems. And that means a whole lot of murder.

What does she do?

Suzee was once a doll who was too helpless to stop one of her owners Darla Jones from being beaten to death by her own insane father, with her mother helping to cover up the murder. It was then that Suzee promised to never let that happen again.

With her owners often being put-upon young women trapped in abusive relationships with their parents, Suzee teaches them to stand up for themselves… by having them kill their oppressors, from convincing one of her owners to kill her abusive husband, to instilling enough confidence in a girl to not only take good care in raising her 7 brothers, but also kill the men who were mooching off her mom, and how to prey on her neighbors’ pity, making her as cunning and ruthless as any man.

Suzee later falls into the hands of Marilee Morrow, who has to deal with her abusive mother. Feeling that Marilee lacks the courage needed to stand up to her mother and kill her, Suzee comes up with a plan to pit the two against each other in order to make Marilee so angry that she’ll one day kill her mom. Suzee earns Marilee’s affection by revealing her sentience to her, getting her to show defiance towards her mother as Suzee secretly tries to scar her psyche enough for her to go from a doormat to a killer with a spine.

So Suzee destroys Marilee’s non-sentient dolls and teddy bear to break her spirit, while also carving up her mom’s credit cards and pinning the blame on her to further increase their hostility towards each other. Suzee even goes so far as to drive glass silver under Marilee's fingernails while she's asleep in order to be attacked by her, which to her, is a good sign that Suzee is willing to fight back.

Later on, after a heated battle with her mom, Suzee is finally able to convince Marilee to kill her mother, the little girl preferring to use a cheese grater to slit her throat after Suzee beforehand gave her sleeping pills and sewed her mouth shut after finding her passed out from alcohol consumption. With her mom now dead, Suzee and Marilee perform a happy dance to celebrate, and as Marilee is taken in by child protective services, Suzee ends the story feeling triumphant, happy to have gotten Marilee out of her figurative shell to stand up for herself.

Is he charming? Intelligent? Able to think on her feet?

Suzee is very good at manipulating her owners into committing murder, mainly by getting them on her good side and implanting ideas of murder into their heads. She's able to turn young girls into killers, and even get away with it, too.

And while Suzee does have some pent-up anger, considering she hates how her owners often suffer at the hands of their abusers, it doesn't backfire on her in any serious way, and she still comes out the victor.

Is she a bitch? Too much of one?

Suzee is a very Well-Intentioned Extremist who wants what's best for her owners: which mainly involves killing people. Bad people, to be fair. Suzee genuinely loves her owners and wants what's best for them, even if she has to harm them to get what she wants. She wanted to give Marilee a backbone, and if she had to worsen the relationship between her and her mom into getting the chance to kill her, then so be it. Either way, Suzee still loves her.

Verdict?

I think she counts, but I'll be curious to hear y'alls thoughts.

So, current tally for Nightbird is 5 [tup] and 1 abstain.

Anyway, time for my second candidate from The Transformers. This time, we're heading into the post-movie era with season 3, which had a radically different status quo. Optimus Prime is dead, Rodimus Prime is now leader of the Autobots, and the series now has a larger emphasis on cosmic-spanning adventures compared with the first two seasons. This includes the increased prominence of the Quintessons, a race of cybernetic squid-like aliens that created the Transformers and wish to wipe out both the Autobots and Decepticons.

Which leads us to our candidate, hailing from the episode "Madman's Paradise", where Daniel and Grimlock find an ancient gateway created by the Quintessons and end up trapped in another realm filled with magic, fantasy creatures... and the Quintesson prisoner who now rules the land.

Who Is He and What Does He Do?

Mara-Al-Utha is a Quintesson who studied the forbidden art of sorcery millions of years ago back when the Quintessons controlled Cybertron. For his crimes, the Quintessons used an interdimensional gateway to banish him to another dimension called Menonia. After his exile, Mara-Al-Utha met up with a powerful sorcerer who ruled the realm called the Golden One. He took on the identity of the Red Wizard and studied under the Golden One to perfect his magic. While initially using his spells to sabotage his master's work, the Red Wizard soon planned to betray his mentor. He sealed the Golden One away in a cave and cut him off from the sunlight he needed to draw his powers. With the Golden One disposed of, the Red Wizard seized the throne and enslaved the population of Menonia. The citizens eventually formed a rebellion against the Red Wizard and launched a series of attacks against his castle to overthrow his tyrannical rule.

When Grimlock and Daniel end up being accidentally transported to Menonia, the Red Wizard kept an eye on the two strangers to his kingdom. After seeing Grimlock's strength when he fights a group of centaurs loyal to the Golden One, he believed that the Dinobot's power was what he needed to finally crush the rebellion. The Red Wizard rescued Grimlock and Daniel from the centaurs and took them back to his castle, disguising himself as one of the Golden One's pupils. He claimed that the real Red Wizard was a benevolent ruler who took the throne after the Golden One mysteriously disappeared, and that the armed rebellion was hoping to depose him to take power for themselves. Mara-Al-Utha asked Grimlock's help defend his castle, which he was all too happy to.

As the Red Wizard prepared Grimlock for the impending battle, he had his wooden golem servants lock Daniel away in the dungeon as he slept. As the armies launched their attack, the Red Wizard aided Grimlock and his forces by launching magical blasts at the opposing army from the safety of his castle. Daniel learned about the Red Wizard's betrayal from a former pupil of the Golden One locked away in his cell, and the two were freed during the battle. Unfortunately, Grimlock didn't notice and continued to aid the Red Wizard. The other Autobots soon found Grimlock and helped him defend the castle, which led to the rebels retreating.

Meanwhile, Daniel and the Golden One's pupil found the cave he was sealed away in and with the help of Ramhorn, were able to free him. With his powers restored, the Golden One transformed into a dragon and attacked the castle to stop the Red Wizard. With his ruse exposed, the Red Wizard blasted the Autobots away and cast a dark cloud around the Golden One that turned him human again. Weakened once more, the Golden One's only hope was to cast a counter-spell that would banish the Red Wizard to another world. Although weakened from the fight, the Golden One was able to cast the spells thanks to Blaster transforming into his boombox mode and amplifying his voice, which banished the Red Wizard from Menonia for good.

Is He Charming, Charismatic, and Good on His Feet?

Mara-Al-Utha is a powerful sorcerer who manages to quickly gain Daniel and Grimlock's trust after he save them from the centaurs. He plays the role of a servant to Red Wizard and builds him up as a kind ruler who brought peace to Menonia in the Golden One's absence. As the Red Wizard, he's mostly on top of things and is able to handle the forces sent against him, while not being able to snuff them out completely. The one time he loses his temper is when Grimlock asks why the Red Wizard can't stop the opposing army if he's so powerful. Mara-Al-Utha snaps and says he's tried, but the rebels are relentless and won't stop. Once the battle actually starts though, we see that he is an active participant and arguably does more damage to the army than Grimlock himself. And given how he handles the Autobots and the Golden One on his own, he's definitely not a push-over.

Is He a Bastard? Too Much of a Bastard?

Mara-Al-Utha is friendly to Daniel and Grimlock at first, and gains their trust very quickly. However, this is all an act and the truth is that he's a selfish tyrant who seeks to gain power just for himself. He betrayed his mentor and enslaved Menonia's population, and manipulates Grimlock into attacking the forces who only wish to bring peace back to their kingdom. We see a flashback of the Red Wizard's rule, with slaves getting whipped and people being sent into dungeons. While he does use lethal force, he's content to just send people to his dungeons rather than outright kill them, as he did for the Golden One's former pupil. Compared to other Quintessons who we see resort to straight up executing their prisoners, that is saying a lot.

Competition?

Now, admittedly Daniel is a kid and Grimlock is... well, Grimlock, so they're not exactly the hardest people to fool. However, we see that Mara-Al-Utha has ruled Menonia for ages and has fended off the constant attempts to overthrow his rule. He's able to seal away the Golden One for eons and once he's freed, Mara-Al-Utha is able to weaken his powers to the point he's unable use his powers. The other Autobots are fooled into helping him and once they realize their mistake, Mara-Al-Utha is able to dispose of them. He only loses because Blaster was around and able to amplify the Golden One's counter-spell, and he had no way of knowing he could transform into a boombox.

Verdict?

I'd say he's a [tup] myself. He betrayed his mentor, turned his prison into his own personal kingdom, manipulates Grimlock into helping him crush the armies attempting to overthrow him, and takes care of the Golden One once he attempts to reclaim the throne.

This character was recently added without approval, but I was thinking of proposing him, so may as well do that. Tried posting last page but deleted it because there were too many candidates already.

Who is Parvos Granum?

In Warframe, Parvos is the ambitious, resourceful founder of the Corpus faction, one of the most powerful groups in the Origin System.

During the false golden age of the Orokin, Parvos Granum and his family slaved away as farmers, working under brutal conditions. Parvos, who always desired more, one day started hearing a voice in his head, planting what would become The Corpus Tenets into his mind. These tenets demand that their followers chase their ambitions and always seek to gain more rather than allowing themselves to wallow in idle complacency.

Putting those tenets into action, Parvos stole jewels from his Orokin overlords. He then intentionally allowed himself to be caught, resulting in him having his hand cut off as punishment, in order to hide that he had swallowed one of the gems, an extremely precious piece of Rubedo which was worth more than what his family would make in ten generations. Using it as collateral, Parvos took out a huge loan, then lent out that loan to other farmers along with advice that let them start their own businesses and improve their station in life. As his clients became richer, their wealth flowed back to him, and he eventually acquired a veritable fortune.

When Parvos' father suddenly died, he decided to end his family's brutal labor, converting their field into what would soon expand and grow into the city of Corposium (despite his brother begging him not to do so). In Corposium, Parvos would become a renowned scientist, developing Specter particle theory (which allows inanimate bodies to be programmed with behaviors, creating a non-sentient automated soldier or worker). However, he would be victim to an assassination attempt, which failed to kill him (thanks to his Warframe bodyguard Protea protecting him) but left him trapped in an alternate dimension known as the Granum Void.

Centuries later, the absolutely vile Corpus plutocrat Nef Anyo would claim to be Parvos Granum's son, hoping to use this relation to seize power of the Corpus Board of Directors. When Nef manages to break into the Granum Void to prove this, Parvos is disgusted at what the Corpus has become in his absence, as they build their fortunes through corrupt and idle means. He would send an army of Specters to destroy Nef's fleet of ships, forcing an Enemy Mine alliance between Nef and the Tenno.

Following this, Parvos seeks to regain control and expand his influence over the Origin System, which he accomplishes by having his followers take over sections of Proxima Space in Railjack missions, recruiting disenfranchised female Corpus into the Sisters of Parvos, who are armed with some of the most cutting-edge weaponry in the entire solar system, and exploiting a moment of weakness in Drusus Leverian to trap him in a contract that would require him to provide Parvos with artifacts to increase his power.

Is he magnificent?

Parvos Granum differs from the rest of the Corpus due to his strong principles. While he is greedy, he believes that wealth is something that should both be worked for and put to use: the Idle Rich is his greatest Berserk Button. This makes him much more likeable than other Corpus, to the point where he's almost sympathetic. Aside from that, Parvos is intelligent, determined, resourceful, manipulative, and Affably Evil, all magnificent traits.

There is one thing that could count against him: it's strongly implied that the voice that planted the Tenets in his head was actually the Man in the Wall, an Eldritch Abomination that's shaping up to be Warframe's Big Bad. This would mean that without realizing it, he might have been manipulated by greater powers this whole time. However, it's not said that the MitW did more than plant the ideas in his mind, so everything that happened afterwards was all Parvos' own doing, which is still quite magnificent.

Is he a bastard?

Definitely. As the leader of a Corpus splinter group, Parvos sends legions of blindly loyal Mooks to their deaths so they can gather resources and territory for him to control.

Final verdict?

I believe that the one possible knock on his magnificence isn't that bad overall, and so far he's probably Warframe's best MB candidate. [tup]

Here's my draft for Diya since it's been over 72 hours:

  • Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight: Diya was once a great thief and Rukhmini's partner and love interest. Retiring from her criminal life after Rukhmini left for 30 years searching for the Tianshang Weapons, Diya managed to keep her thieving and conning skills sharp. When Jayesh begins buying properties from the people of Raipur in order to eventually own the city as a whole and demolish it, Diya arranges a marriage between him and her daughter, Padma, so the latter signs ownership of their belongings over to her mother once the union is officiated. Utilizing the Dragon Knights, even Rukhmini, as pawns in her scheme when they arrive on Raipur. She plans out their near-successful heist for Master Mastodon's amulet, warns Jayesh about it to gain his trust, then successfully keeps the group from ruining the wedding. Once her plan is completed, she returns the properties to the citizens while making Jayesh work in her restaurant to pay off his debts. In the series finale, having married Rukhmini, Diya leaves her honest life behind to join her wife in her new life as the Pirate Queen.

Yes to Suzee and Parvos.

One who's dropped out from the story, from one of my favorite currently ongoing manga...

Oh, and spoilers as hell ahead—the new anime is still in its first season.

What's the work?
Go, Go, Loser Ranger! is an action-comedy manga best described as a horror-tinged Perspective Flip of the Tokusatsu genre. Five Dragon Keepers have defended the world from the invasion of a shapeshifting, nigh-unkillable alien force that have chained their ship to the Earth in the hopes of continuing their invasion, their high-ranking "Executives" sending legions of nigh-unkillable Footsoldiers in the aims of conquest. Only...

...it's all a lie. For years, the generally harmless Footsoldiers, known as "Dusters," have been trapped in a predatory deal with the Dragon Keepers in which the Keepers let them live—they are the only people who can kill the aliens by using their Divine Tools—in exchange for the Footsoldiers holding fake battles with them every weekend in which they seemingly die and return the next week. Rinse and repeat for years on end. One Footsoldier, known as "D," finally vows to break the cycle by infiltrating the Rangers' academy and becoming a lower-ranked Ranger in their organization. There's one other major influence toward that, though...

Who is Yumeko Suzukiri? What does she do?
Suzukiri is a member of the yellow battalion who has served the Rangers loyally for years... except for the fact that, secretly, she wants the invaders to win. To that end, she recruits D for his task of infiltrating the organization. Repeatedly attacking him every time he ends up off his guard and happily mocking him about his state, she answers when D asks about her motives with a simple reply that she wants to see the underdogs win for once, as a big fan of romance shows. Yumeko masquerades as a loyal Ranger, even being welcomed into the personal meetings of the Keepers where she casually witnesses the Red Keeper murder his protege for offending him, though the Keepers keep her around for other, more mysterious reasons as well. Ordering D to collect all the Divine Tools, she happily receives the Red Keeper's weapon when D seemingly dies acquiring it, even being content with the Blue Keeper actually perishing in the name of the weapon being given to her. Working alongside D as he goes into deep cover with the organization, Yumeko keeps both their facades operating even as the Executives are revealed to still be alive, keeping a prideful D from inadvertently letting his identity slip and teaching him how to behave normally until their battalion assignments see them forcefully split.

When Suzukiri returns in the "Three-Way Battle" storyline, the truth behind her enigmatic agenda is revealed. As the Keepers end up clashing with the invaders' supposed greatest weapon, the Death Messiah, after the public has turned against them, Suzukiri works against them and makes her decisive play. The Divine Tools are made from human corpses, as we learn before this... but whose corpse? Well, it so happens that Suzukiri is the descendant of a priestly caste that served a real dragon god. There's genuine, real magic in her body... Yellow Keeper, being a tinkerer and scientist, took advantage of this. With Suzukiri as the last known descendant of the clan and therefore the last source of the Divine Tools, there's only one option for the victims to make the Tools with.

Yumeko Suzukiri.

Namely, Suzukiri has been repeatedly cloned by Yellow. Dozens of helpless clones reside in his tubes, just waiting to be dissected and forged into weapons when he needs them. Suzukiri manages to use the chaos of the Three-Way Battle to finally achieve her true ends—she knows the truth behind Yellow's actions, and has a simple goal: Free every last one of her clones. Using the distraction, she makes it to the vault, and when Yellow interrupts her? She confronts him and manages to take advantage of the situation outside to walk off with all of her clones in tow, saving them and walking out of the story (for now) while trusting D to overthrow the Rangers for her.

Is Suzukiri magnificent?
Oh, easily. Suzukiri is more than privy to the actions of the Keepers and lets them mistake her for a bewildered, helpless loyalist while secretly Playing Both Sides and arranging for the very invader that continually disrupts the Rangers' operation while she works from the shadows to facilitate both D's rise and the Keepers' fall. She seizes the weapons anytime there's a chance, and manages to capitalize on the Keepers' flaws in the name of rescuing her clones, which she eventually achieves despite Yellow discovering her plan, walking out of both the Keepers' base and the story triumphant.

Is Suzukiri bad?
Yep. Suzukiri is pretty abusive to D by being willing to decapitate him (Which, while he can regenerate, is pretty clearly a temporary pain) to teach him never to let his guard down, and is complacent in most of the Keepers' activities, even coldly witnessing the murders some commit on their own time without lifting a finger, not to mention letting the chaos of the Three-Way Battle happen and even taking advantage of the numerous endangered civilians to achieve her own ends. While it's in the name of their eventual defeat, Suzukiri has no reluctance to also potentially hand the world to invaders like D—and while D's not exactly the most vicious individual, it's made quite explicit that she doesn't really care about what he inflicts—and is party to the death of Blue Keeper, one of the more moral Keepers in the organization. Suzukiri is a mastermind who spends a long time working for whoever benefits her in achieving the goals surrounding her clones, and there's no way for her to get there without some blood on her hands.

Conclusion?
Straightforward yes.

This is pretty random, but last I recall someone did a write-up for Machiavillain and he seemingly got the greenlight. And yet, I never saw a write-up on here or on the draft list, or on the show's YMMV page. Did something happen that I don't know about?

[tup] for Parvos Granum and Yumeko Suzukiri.

I'd also like some more thoughts on my quote proposal.

[up][up] It just seems like the effortposter hasn't gotten around to doing the writeup.

Right it's been a few months since it's came out and no one's brought it up but with the recent DLC for God of War Ragnarök, could Tyr be a possible candidate for MB?

Sure to Suzukiri.

My issue with Týr is that aside from leading Kratos to come to Valhalla, he's not a bastard - and that's kind of a stretch. It's not like he forced him.

  • The Grimm Variations "Little Red Riding Hood": Scarlet is a' mysterious woman hungry for blood. Working as Little Red Riding Hood, Scarlet uses her charm to lure sadistic men into a false sense of security before killing them. When paired with Grey as his prey, Scarlet uses a Wounded Gazelle Gambit to lure him into the open and charm him into letting his guard down, before drugging and killing him.

I was watching Memento, and I was wondering if Natalie could come under this trope, as she takes advantage of the protagonist's condition to manipulating him into getting rid of Dodd. She does say some insulting things about his wife, but it's with the goal of riling him up into punching her so that she can manipulate him further.
