Welcome to the Magnificent Bastard (MB) cleanup thread! This thread is where we clean up or cut already-existing entries.

Here, you'll find explanations of the criteria for the trope as well as our rules/procedures for approving and cutting candidates.
What goes through this thread?
- Cut requests. If you believe a MB has been approved and they do not count, this thread is where you propose their removal. To know how to go about this, please see the FAQ folder on the Administrivia page, where the process is explained in detail.
- If we ever need to consider cutting multiple examples without individually reviewing them (e.g. if we discover widespread plagiarism with a particular troper's MBs), the initial discussion will be on this thread and we'll then escalate to the mod team (as described here) to get a formal consensus if we decide to recommend a mass cut.
- If an entry was put on the wrong subpage/YMMV page, you may propose where they should be moved to.
- Full rewrites of existing entries, including expansions, trims, and ground-up rewrites. If your rewrite is approved by the thread, feel free to add it to the drafts page so that other users can check grammar and the like before it is included with the rest of the weekly swaps.
- If an entry on a work's YMMV page doesn't match the entry on the media subpage, you can bring it here to discuss which entry works better.
What does not go through this thread?
- New candidate proposals - as stated before, those are done on this thread.
- Unapproved wicks - if a Troper encounters either of these kinds of wicks, they can be cut with no approval.
- Any MB link on a non-YMMV page - as a YMMV trope, it should not be linked on those pages regardless of any cleanup effort. The only exception is if the wick is being used within the definition of another trope.
- If an MB link on a YMMV page refers to an unapproved character. If it refers to an approved character on any such page, the wick can stay. On the other hand, if the unapproved character being linked to sounds like they might have promise (and you don't feel like checking it out for yourself), feel free to mention it on the approval thread - someone may already know why they don't count, or it could invite a brand new discussion!
- Proposals for images, quotes, and videos of already-approved MBs - quotes and images are proposed on the approval thread, while videos can be uploaded normally as they are screened for approval by the moderation.
- Crosswicking examples to YMMV pages - if an example has already been approved and added to the main page, you do not require any special permission to add the example to a work's YMMV page (assuming the work has a page already). If a YMMV page doesn't exist yet, then you can make it yourself, but either way, feel free to just add the example without asking.
- Small changes to existing entries - these can simply be done on a Troper's own prerogative with no approval.
- Spelling and grammar fixes.
- Pothole changes.
- Minor rewordings.
- Spoiler tags.
While these changes do not require any kind of approval, it is requested that should you make any of these changes, you do one of the following:
- Make the same changes on the relevant Sandbox page, then add the Sandbox to the list at the bottom of the drafts page. This will add the Sandbox to the weekly swaps and ensure that the edits end up on the relevant locked page. If the Sandbox is already listed, then once you make the edits, your job is already done!
- If you don't know how the Sandboxes work or simply don't have the time to find it, then you can simply post on the thread about the changes you made. Someone else can then make the edit on the relevant Sandbox and add it to the weekly swaps.
- Alternatively, you can simply request that the change be made directly to the locked page on the Locked Pages thread. Members of this thread keep track of that one, so we will ensure that the changes are made in the Sandbox so that it doesn't get deleted during the next swap.
Again, these changes don't require any approval, but we prefer to keep the entries on the YMMV pages and the locked pages the same in order to avoid any miscommunication or errors between entries, so if you do make the change, we would greatly appreciate it if you could ensure the change is made on the locked page as well.
As a final note, we do not care what other sites have to say regarding whether or not a character counts. We have our own criteria and they have theirs for their MB equivalents; while they are similar, they are not exactly the same and should not be treated as such. Another site removing a character from their equivalent should not be a reason why a cut is proposed here, and if this is the case, it will likely lead to mod intervention.

Fair points. I am fine with keeping Past Thanos.
However, I have another thought that I have been thinking for a bit. Don't we treat Variants as separate characters? Wouldn't it make more sense to have him and present Thanos have two entries? I am not pushing for it to happen but am rather just curious.

Got a slight rewrite for another Ace Attorney candidate:
Original
- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies: Aura Blackquill is the older sister of Simon, who deals with Robotics at the Cosmos Space Center. Having lost her lover Metis Cykes to the Phantom, and her brother to a false conviction, Aura loses faith in the courts and decides to take justice into her own hands by manipulating Apollo Justice and Chief Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth into having a retrial with the person she thought was responsible, Athena Cykes as the defendant, through a robot rebellion, having programmed several of her and Metis' robots into kidnapping several hostages, including Trucy Wright. Despite being proven wrong by Phoenix that Athena is the killer of Metis and Clay, her testimony about seeing the killer in the current case holding the lighter-gun in the opposite hand from where Athena's prints are, allows the protagonists to arrest the Phantom. She then gives herself up gracefully and releases the hostages, while her brother is absolved, just like Aura wanted.

After Simon is proven innocent for Metis' murder, Aura gracefully turns herself in and releases the hostages, getting everything she wanted.
The writeup is generally fine, but Metis is never actually stated to be Aura's lover to my recollection, plus the phantom's name is never actually capitalized at any point during the game. Also turned one sentence into less of a run-on and rearranged the last sentence and added a few more details.

Right sorry if my post about Nebula seemed rude and attacking the writeup itself, my main query was about how most it listed is her post Heel–Face Turn in GOTG 2 where she doesnt lose her magnificence but her bastardness is more or less the same level as the other guardians?

I don't think that's much of an issue, Hawkeye only has a single sentence devoted to his time as Ronin.
Cut Loki, since I didn't say it before. Also have a cut of my own from Spider-Man: TAS:
- Venom, aka Eddie Brock, begins as an Evil Counterpart of Spider-Man seeking vengeance against him. He consistently defeats Spider-Man in combat and nearly reveals his identity, whilst maintaining an influence over his life to torment him, even invading his loved ones' privacy. Becoming Baron Mordo's servant, he quickly betrays him and Dormammu once his debt is paid to continue his pursuit of Spider-Man. When the symbiote acts against his will, Eddie separates from it, only considering rebonding due to the threat Carnage poses. Pretending to concede when warned about the fatal consequences of rebonding, Eddie returns as Venom despite the risks and forges an Enemy Mine with Spider-Man and Iron Man to defeat Carnage. While an enemy to Spider-Man, Venom shared his desire to protect the innocent, ultimately falling into a dimensional rift with Carnage to save his psychiatrist Ashley Kafka.
Does Venom actually do anything all that clever? The constantly beating Spider-Man thing mostly comes from just being stronger than him, and he still has the same petty grudge as always: Eddie got exposed for trying to frame Spidey, so now he wants to destroy everyone in his life. Spidey even goads him into a fight by plastering his wall with newsclippings of his firing to send him into a rage. He becomes less of a dick upon his return, but even then all his "cleverness" is kind of meh.
I'm a cut, though I should have a replacement from the show.
I haven't seen the entire show, but from what I've seen Eddie didn't really seem that impressive, yeah. Cut him.
I'd like some thoughts on my Aura rewrite up above.

Got a question about Aldo. With his victims explicitly just being Nazi's, wheres the bastardness? Ruthless to them? Yeah, but also, they're Nazis. Shoshanna I think? I'm fine with since at least with her plot she's taunting them whilst the theatre is ablaze. Aldo just goes to blow it up.
Reason I'm asking is, I've just seen The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and Henry Cavill's character is similar to Aldo albeit just with British charm but ultimately his victims are Nazis.

He tortures Bridget von Hammersmark and attacks everyone in the German army. The clean Wehrmacht is a myth yes, but still not every soldier was a Nazi nor a mass murdering psycho. At the end he breaks his deal with Landa killing his radioman when he promised he'd let the man live. Finally he's quite sadistic about his punishments, carving swastikas into surrendering infantrymen. He's more than bad enough.

Would anybody mind if I change the structure of Imagelinks.Magnificent Bastard to be the same as ImageLinks.Complete Monster? I noticed that there was a discussion during the thread lockdown to change Complete Monster to it's current
structure and I think it would be a good idea to copy the reformat to the MB page too.

On the subject of Spider-Man, from the Marvel Animated Universe folder:
- Franchise-wide: Victor von Doom is the ruler of Latveria and a master of both science and the mystic arts. After losing his parents under a tyrannical regime and being disfigured in a horrific lab accident, Doom declared he would bring peace to the world under his iron fist. He feuded with the Fantastic Four on numerous occasions and was the one who destroyed their headquarters at the Baxter Building. Doom has twice stolen the powers of the Silver Surfer and tricked the Hulk into nearly killing the Thing. When the UN ordered him to be tried for war crimes, Doom trapped Washington D.C. under a force field and forced the Hulk to destroy the entire capital. Doom was the most successful villain during the Secret Wars and transformed the territories he conquered into utopias free from conflict or strife. Managing to even steal the powers of the almighty Beyonder, Doctor Doom has proven he has one of the most cunning and audacious minds in the Marvel Animated Universe.
The Doom who appears in Secret Wars is a different version from the FF/Hulk Doom. Permission to remove that stuff and replace it with something more like the below?
