Okay, I have a translation of Tabi no Tochuu and I have a question to ask.

Having lost my way on a journey alone I stood motionless though my heart alone wandered about But now, I am able to travel to distant lands Yes, ever since I met you on this road

Even the song traverlers sing, though I do not know it, Bring back fond memories as long as I am with you

If the world we dreamed of Is out there somewhere Shall we seek it out, Heading past the wind?

The freezing daybreak The parched afternoon And the trembling silent night Let us go see what's past them

Your eyes, which know loneliness well, blink, and that color is reflected

I will fly into the sky and become a crescent moon: Those mint-colored stars must be Shards of tears

A dock in the country to the east; the western sea; A southern town in a dark forest; a golden tower; A hill in the south, ravaged by water; all under the same moon.

As long as you will let me hold your hand, How far shall we go? Together with you,

I can go anywhere. Let us go embrace The rustling scent of A world yet unseen

Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na nai na na

Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na Na na nai na nai na na

Can any figure out just what the hell that bolded part is supposed to mean? I have gone over the song and the show hundreds of times in my head yet can't figure it out.

EDIT: Damn it. Can't get the markup to work.

I have given up long ago on what Japanese song texts are about. I just assume that they put down together a bunch of words that sound well.

Like 'The Riddle'.

The biggest problem here is that everything but that one section makes sense (especially when combined with knowledge of the series). Also, what awful translations I can find of Minna no Peace and Perfect World make sense to a degree(well, as much as they can for bad translations).

Hmmm it does fit her rather well.

The first two dub episodes of season 2 are up on Youtube. As expected, Tatum and Brina dive right back into this without missing a beat.

After ignoring this series for so long I happened to end up watching one of the episodes of season 1 while trying to figure out how to draw characters like Nora.

It was 2:00 AM. I watched half the season. Thn I went to sleep, woke up and finished it.

The second season had conveniently popped up in stores recently so I knew full well what I was going to buy.

So I got it, a DVD Blu-ray combo and finished it today.

Man, this series was cool. I didn't understand a single thing about the economics but I thought it was cool anyway. Holo is probably one of the most interesting characters I've ever seen. Lawrence was actually pretty cool too, for all his joking about Holo being so dramatic he sure can get theatrical himself, acting like he's part of a play and calling her "Princess" all the time.

"You are an ass!" cracked me up.

I agree, Horo is an incredibly appealing character. Lawrence also has a role in this though, because he provides a good foil for her to play off of.

I think Lawrence made the show. I found him to be an entertaining and believable character. I usually find male leads in Anime to be uninteresting. Actually, Holo and Lawrence both are exceptionally well-written characters. This is probably largely to do with the inordinate amount of time spent on those two characters rather than an ensemble cast and gratuitous fan service or action scenes, though.

But yeah, Lawrence somehow manages to strike me as more manly than a number of action heroes. It sort of makes the whole "male fantasy" vibe of the show work better when the exotic, intelligent girl is attracted to a man who really tries to portray the full range of men's greed, chivalry, jealousy, pragmatism, and so on, without going over-the-top.

Resurrecting this thread for I am at my wits end. So, English speakers get the 2-seasons and 24 chapters of a manga (which reaches near the end of season 1). My point is that I NEED CLOSURE. Are there summaries or fan translations of the novels or manga that any tropers know about? Help me out here, because I sure as hell can't find anything.

Yeah, I agree it'd be nice to find out how it ends. Baka-Tsuki's translation got a cease-and-desist and had to be shut down.

Well, we get roughly two a year and we're on the fourth novel so that's about six more years until we reach the end.

Personally, I'll be taking Japanese next school year anyway so when I can read it without much (or any) trouble, I plan on importing them if I can. Hopefully, by the time I can read it fluently my first novel will have been published. Of course, if it isn't (or never is) then... I'll work something out.

[up][up]Well, the problem from my point of view is that anything official will take a few years to get up to or past what the anime covered, as far as I know. And while the translated light novels are about to get to new stuff, I'd have a hard time actually getting my hands on them, regardless. I mean, I've just never faced this much difficulty spoiling a series.

The novels have reached new material. The second season of the anime adapted the third and the fifth book, so volume 4 - released last summer - is new.

I read it, and I kind of think it's the best story so far. It has the best supporting character in the series, the highest stakes and the most balanced mix of relationship/economics/Yoitsu. And it finally gives Lawrence a chance to shine as a merchant.

Now here's the million dollar question: Why did the anime skip the fourth book?
