Jesting aside, it depends. Exedra seems like it's going for a different genre altogether so there might still be merit to keeping it around. Also it's being done by a different studio, so that means work siphoning is not a relevant factor.
If it turns to take place in the same continuity, that might make it more likely that MR will get axed.
What's even happening in MR these days? I thought the main plot was wrapped up.

Recently Mikoto was wrapped up as a loose end, and instability in the Automatic Purificstion System's been continually teased at.
Also, rerun of the Nagisa event likely as a precursor to a Yuu event since she just got released but the girl partnered with her hasn't.

somehow I'm not surprised. given the precedent, I have some suspicions that Iroha would not be allowed an opportunity to rest
has there been any hints of a Rebellion analogue there?

I think any lthing like that has already come and past, I haven't touched it myself and might be wrong but I think Historia Yachiyo's mgs had her planning to do something really risky due to missing Iroha only to end up with Felicia wiping her memory and keeping her from doing anything dumb.
Though IIRC Touka and Nemu are keeping things with the APS ansecret mostly from Iroha and Ui, with them telling Alina to do some stuff and talk with Magical Girls that let's her grow an image of what their Witch would look like as a weird "encourage them to never lose hope and give in" jist incase measure which is what the Alina's Atelier event was all about.

So, here's a funny story. Turns out Aniplex said happy birthday to Kyoko Sakura on May 9th... only for them to take it back the next day
by saying it was an accident. This means that Madoka almost stopped being the only Holy Quintet girl to have a canon birthdate.
