Incidentally, I find that programming can work similarly sometimes - Sometimes, a bug fix in one part of the code exposes issues in other parts of it, too.
My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.Only "sometimes"? In programming you know you're making progress when it still fails, but the error is different.
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreNo worries at all on the double post. :-D As you can see, it happens fairly often. But yeah, as an engineer (software engineer FWIW), this is incredibly common.
I now want to see an episode of Star Trek based on this.
It would make for an amusing lower deck episode, as Engineering tries to repair the ship after the latest brilliant plan by the starring cast... sure, reversing the polarity on the warp drive got them out of the Negative Space Wedgie, but parts of the hull are now made out of crystallized cheese, the wiring is uniformly an inch longer, and all of the lights have an annoying hum... and every time they fix one thing, they realize that that just uncovers another nasty side effect.
Him being weirded out due to not having seen or heard about a Bowman’s Wolf before doesn’t bother me.
What bothers me is how he refers to Florence as an ”it”.
My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming. He thinks she's a dressed-up animal. Nothing wrong with referring to an animal with "it".
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreMaybe not, but the Mayor and Mr. Kornada having referred to Florence as an ”it” specifically to dehumanize her previously still leaves a bad taste in my mouth when it’s done by somebody else.

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming. And, of course, one of the underlying issues with many forms of prejudice is that "it" gets used specifically because it's dehumanizing, and absolves the person of any guilt. That said, this case feels a bit closer to "Oh, well, this is a non-intelligent dog that someone is trying to portray as a person so as to make a joke" rather than "Bowman's Wolves aren't human, and are therefore an 'it'".
Then again, the people who owned that equipment could sue
Better to spend 10 minutes doing nothing than trying to exit your shift early and set a bad example.◊

This time without sqidly interruptions
I believe saucers of milk are traditional, but probably not helpful for robotic processes. And there’s no such thing as a cow on this station anyway.
Of course, the big problem is that if you talk about brownies, they leave.
