Don't mind me, I'm just biding my time...
Howdy! Name's Erin582. I've been a member since late 2013.
I love The Simpsons, Dougnote , Ed, Edd n Eddynote , Married... with Children, In Living Color!, Saved by the Bell, The Golden Girls, Jem, The Legend of Zelda (especially Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and A Link Between Worlds), The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the James Bond films, Rocko's Modern Life, Nintendo, video game cartoons and a whole lot of other things.
I collect dolls (especially fashion dolls like Barbie), I love to read, write short stories, cruise thrift stores for hard-to-find old toys and go watch films. As you can see, I also love television movies, especially those that aired on Lifetime (even though plenty of them didn't originally air on the network, which also explains why they've been retired or only air very rarely due to licensing laws, to my immense chagrin). Additionally, I like to go to plays, I love the majority of video game cartoons and I have a VERY active imagination. I'm proud of my imagination; it has gotten me through some rather rough and lonely times.
What else is there to know about me?
- I tend to quote The Simpsons on a near-daily basis.
- I prefer A Walk to Remember over The Notebook.
- I actually tried to couch-dive like the Eds did (even though I was 14 and did it in my mattress!)
- I rooted hard for Max and Kenny and Sly and Lorena to get together.
- I wish that Family Matters and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air did a crossover (although the ending credits where James Avery appeared on the latter show surprising Reginald VelJohnson and hugging him was good enough.)
- The older I get, the more I identify with Al Bundy, Ed Bighead and Squidward Tentacles.
- Speaking of which, Al, Doug Funnie, Tracey Sketchit, Jon Arbuckle, and Double D are all my spirit animals (can I have more than one???)
- I wanted to go to Bayside High and Hillman College when I was a kid.
- I've always wondered what Dr. Kahn and Nanny looked like.note
- If I ever get an orange tabby and a beagle, I plan to name them Garfield and Odie, respectively.
- I like to stand at the top of the escalator like Mr. Bean sometimes.
- I wish that The Critic was more widely-known.
- In high school, I dressed up as Mario, Vegeta and Sailor Jupiter for my sophomore, junior and senior years on Halloween.
- 1997 was quite possibly the most life-altering year for me due to my own sense of self and my love of pop-culture becoming much more refined.
- It's fine to want to keep the peace around here, but if you're the type who lives to "correct" a troper's "wrong" examples or edits (who isn't breaking the rules or doing much in the way of harm to the site or the integrity of the trope or work) and you are not a mod, please stop. Like Fighteer once said, "Don't backseat mod".
- I thought Hibiscus Island was a real place.
- I used to confuse Vicki Lawrence and Carol Burnett when I was younger.
- My absolute favorite Pokémon is Charmander, so needless to say that I was quite peeved when it evolved into Charmeleon in the anime.
- I imagined that my mirror was like a painting that was really a dimension to another world.
- I never made a pillow fort; I just hid under my covers (usually ruining my hair in the process) and played underneath my bed.
- In addition to Halloween and Christmas, I also like to decorate my home for Easter.
- The first film I ever saw in theaters was Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (and I fell asleep by the end).
- I always failed the All That challenge.note
- I was an expert at Rock N' Roll Jeopardy.
- I wished that Timothy Dalton was able to do at least one more James Bond film, but for what it's worth, at least both of his films ended happily.
- Speaking of the Daltonator, if you dislike him as Bond, dislike the North American version of Super Mario Bros. 2 and are unwilling to give green ketchup a chance, then we cannot be friends.
- I always liked Billie over Christine; she was more down-to-earth and not a shameless example of a Mary Sue.
- I always preferred The Snorks to The Smurfs.
- The "Obey Your Thirst" Sprite ad campaign was one of the most brilliant commercials to ever be conceived.
- One of my worst pop culture memories happened when I was able to encounter the popular "My Best Friend Plank" video from the beginning and I pressed the record button on my VCR...only for the screen to flash a "No video tape in recorder" notice. I was devastated.
- I love gifts that are considered "uncool" and "uninspired", like snowglobes, gift cards and popcorn tins.
- Every time that I stay in a hotel, I have to watch "Mr. Bean in Room 426."
- I'm convinced Lady Tremaine and Maleficent are the same person.
- Meet Joe. Joe's a Nice Guy, a good boss, a professional who respects deadlines, doesn't harm children and is proud to age gracefully. Be more like Joe.
- If you feel the need to move an index or namespace to the "proper" location, that's fine as long as you give proper credit or notification. Otherwise, it's just poor form.
- I used to watch the Prevue Channel for fun as a child.
- I love the Elmo character from Sesame Street. To me, he's too adorable to hate!
- I wish that the show Babes lasted longer.
- Beastly is my favorite character from the Nelvana version of the Care Bears. I wish he was given his own figurine/stuffed animal.
- I used to think Count Duckula was in the same universe as DuckTales (1987).
- Of the big four Christmas specials, Frosty is my favorite.
- Also, I wish that Scrooged got the same love that Die Hard and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation got as far as dark Christmas films go.
- If you ever stated or shamed someone by saying that an image or closing logo isn't scary, then please get off of my page.note
- And, of course, I wish that Flintstones Chewable Morphine was real.
You'll see me creeping around every now and then. More to come soon...
