Flicker

Manny receives a motorcycle as a gift from his Uncle Hugo and, after reattaching a loose cable, takes it out to the country for a test-drive. After watching a lovely sunset, he goes to drive back to the workshop- only to find that the same cable has come loose again, and with the sun down it's too dark to repair it. Seemingly stranded, he and the tools end up checking the motorcycle's saddlebag and finding- [=WHAT THE?! A TALKING FLASHLIGHT?!=]

!!"Flicker" provides instances of:
* CharacterTitle: The talking flashlight Manny finds ends up being named "Flicker" by the episode's end.
* ChekhovsSkill: Kelly was trying to learn Spanish in the previous episode, which comes in handy when she tries to talk to Flicker (who only speaks Spanish).
* CoolBike: Manny receives a neat motorbike as a gift from his Uncle Hugo.
* CoolSidecar: Manny's new motorbike has one.
* CoolUncle: Apparently, Manny's Uncle Hugo is one, as he'll occasionally send his nephew extremely great gifts.
* ExactWords: Uncle Hugo's motorcycle apparently came with a note that it had "a couple things only Manny could take care of"; Manny assumes this means it has mechanical problems for him to fix, but it turns out it both has a mechanical (well, electrical) problem he needs to fix... and comes with a talking flashlight for Manny to watch.
* FailedASpotCheck: This is actually subverted, rather bizarrely- while it may seem like Squeeze failed to notice that the flashlight she found had a face until it/he was in Manny's hands, carefully rewatching the scene will reveal that, somehow, the flashlight didn't have a face until it was in Manny's hands.
* TheGhost: Manny's Uncle Hugo, who apparently a. only speaks Spanish, and b. every so often gives his Manny really cool gifts.
* HollywoodDarkness: After the sun sets, it's apparently too dark for Manny to be able to fix his broken-down motorcycle, even though the audience has no trouble seeing anything at all.
* LanguageBarrier: The talking flashlight Manny finds doesn't speak English, only Spanish.
* TheNameless: The talking flashlight Manny finds apparently doesn't know if he has a name- Manny and the other tools end up naming him "Flicker".
* OneWordTitle
* PlotDrivenBreakdown: Manny's new motorcycle ends up breaking down when he drove down a country road to look at the sunset- and, after the sun sets, it's too dark for him to see what to repair, so he looks in the motorcycle's "saddlebag" for a flashlight... and ends up discovering one that talks.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Apparently, Manny has an uncle named Hugo who, every so often, sends Manny very nice gifts; this is the first time Hugo was ever mentioned or one of his gifts was ever shown.
* RunningGag: Rusty being afraid of riding in the motorbike, and repeatedly asking if they could just take the truck.
* SpoilerTitle: It wouldn't seem like it's possible for a OneWordTitle to be one, but this episode manages, as the talking flashlight Manny finds spends most of the episode as TheNameless and isn't actually named "Flicker" until the end. (Of course, this is also a LateArrivalSpoiler.)
* TenSecondFlashlight: The talking flashlight Manny finds has this problem due to nearly-depleted batteries, although by really straining he's able to force himself to stay on long enough for Manny to fix the motorbike; it's this tendency to go out and then come back on repeatedly that leads to Manny eventually naming him "Flicker".
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman: It only figures that the episode where Manny gets a talking flashlight is also the episode where he has to fix his motorbike in the middle of nowhere after sundown.
* TranslationByVolume: Pat attempts to do this with Flicker (who doesn't speak English). Needless to say, it doesn't work.
* WhamEpisode: As proof that the "wham" of a WhamEpisode doesn't necessarily have to be something negative, this episode marks a major status quo change as Manny's tool team gains a new member in the form of Flicker the flashlight.

Manny's Time Capsule

It's the day of Sheet Rock Hills' centennial, and Mayor Rosa is planning a celebration at City Hall- unfortunately, that celebration will have to wait, as some pipe somewhere in City Hall is leaking, and a puddle of water now stretches across most of the building's floor. While tracking down the source of the leak, Manny ends up making a startling discovery- an old room buried behind plaster, which contains a time capsule from the day Sheet Rock Hills was founded!

!!Tropes in "Manny's Time Capsule" include:
* ContinuityNod: Once again, Rusty is scared by a jack-in-the box.
* EverybodyLaughsEnding: One happens after Rusty falls over after being scared by a jack-in-the-box that was in the time capsule.
* FamilyBusiness: This is exaggerated, as apparently Kelly's hardware store was first opened by her great-grandmother, at the same time Sheet Rock Hills itself was founded.
* FeedbackRule: Felipe's HollywoodToneDeaf singing causes the speaker he was testing to emit a rather loud feedback squeal; Flicker, who was unlucky enough to be standing directly in front of the speaker at the time, shouts "Ay yi yi!" before falling off the table.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: At the beginning of the episode, Felipe tests a speaker that Manny just by singing "la la la la" into it, so horribly that it emits a loud feedback squeal in protest.
* IdenticalGrandson: When Kelly shows Manny a photograph of her great-grandmother opening what would become Kelly's hardware store, her great-grandmother looks exactly like her aside from her clothing.
* InstantlyProvenWrong: This happens to Mr. Lopart when he sets up a "100" above his shop's awning in honor of Sheet Rock Hills' centennial.
-->Mr. Lopart: Nothing can knock these numbers down.\\
//A bird lands on the second "0", causing it to immediately topple and land on Mr. Lopart's head//
* IveHeardOfThatWhatIsIt:
-->Pat: I can't believe we found a time capsule! Beat (beat) What's a time capsule?
* MotorMouth: Squeeze talks at about a mile a minute when telling Kelly about them finding a time capsule in City Hall, and in her excitement almost forgets why they went to Kelly's hardware store in the first place (to get a new valve for a pipe).
* RunningGag: Felipe speculating that the locked trunk they found in City Hall contains pirate treasure.
* SecretRoom: The leak in City Hall turns out to be coming from a pipe in an old room whose doorway had been plastered into part of a wall.
* SeriesContinuityError: Kelly's hardware store is here said to have been opened by her great-grandmother around the time Sheet Rock Hills was founded, despite the fact that, in "Best Repairman" and "Musica", Kelly was mentioned as having been the one who opened the store, a few years before the events of the show.
* StandardSnippet: The jack-in-the-box in the time capsule, when its crank is turned, plays a snippet of "Pop Goes The Weasel".
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: The time capsule from Sheet Rock Hills 100 years ago is locked... but the lock is 100 years old, so Pat accidentally falling on it is enough to break it and allow the trunk to be opened.
* TimeCapsule: Manny locates one in a SecretRoom in the Sheet Rock Hills City Hall, which was made when the town was founded and set to be opened 100 years from then... which just so happens to be exactly that day. When the time capsule is finally opened at the episode's end, it turns out to contain a letter to Sheet Rock Hills' then-future citizens, a victrola with a record, a lantern, an inkwell, and a jack-in-the-box (which scares Rusty for the episode's EverybodyLaughsEnding).
* WhatAreRecords: When a Victrola record player is pulled out of the time capsule, Squeeze needs to have what records are explained to her.
