Banned in China

...wasn't aired in the country due to the plot involving Doraemon and Nobita going into a zoo in Imperial Japan <- no comma and the presence of Imperial Japanese soldiers in the episode segment.

^ Partial-Context Example. Which country? Despite its unclear title, Banned in China isn't limited to China.

The 2017 episodes of Doraemon <- no comma "I am Mini Doraemon" (ぼくミニドラえもん) and "Elephant and Uncle" (ぞうとおじさん) <- no comma weren't aired in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan, despite the latter segment's earlier 2007 adaptation already airing in these countries before. South Korea did air the former segment, but the latter segment was also skipped but for some understandable reasons, as the segment involves Doraemon and Nobita going into a zoo in Imperial Japan, and the presence of the Imperial Japanese soldiers in the segment.

For Unico: Awakening

  • Adaptational Early Appearance:
    • Unico's mother and siblings are present during Volume 1's prologue explaining the origins of unicorns and when Unico was an infant. Unico's mother and family didn't appear until midway through the manga's run in 1978 debuting in the chapter "A Hometown Visit".
    • In the original manga, the Night Wind only made a brief appearance in "The Tale of the Fangs of Athens" chapter near the manga's conclusion. In this incarnation, she appears during the prologue section of Volume 1 where she's established as The Dragon to Venus.

  • Big Good: Sphinx is huge and actually towers over the West Wind. When the West Wind wakes her up to seek her wisdom, she's intimidated by Sphinx and almost gets squished by her front paws. Despite her large size, Sphinx is very knowledgeable and tries helping her out on Unico's situation. She even empathizes with the West Wind's situation since Sphinx's daughter was kidnapped by Venus.

  • Evil Is Bigger: While Venus already had threatening in the original manga. She's given a more imposing appearance where she's not only a gigantic. But actually makes Zephyrus and Sphinx look tiny since Venus' fingers is the size of truck compared to the West Wind's head.

  • Gender Flip: Marusu (Piro in the manga) is a female sphinx cub in this incarnation. In the original manga, Marusu/Piro was a boy but easily confused as a female due to having very feminine hair and eyelashes.

  • Give Me a Sign: When the West Wind becomes remorseful and wishes to find a way to end Unico's cycle of getting separated from his friends and forgetting his own identity. She hears a whisper on the zephyr with a message reading "There Is A Way" written by leaves. She decides to drop Unico off to a nearby city to follow that whisper.

  • P.O.V. Cam: When Unico wakes up inside a city at night. Two panels are shown from Unico's perspective showing his vision getting less blurry until he gets a clear vision of a neighborhood.

  • Tears of Remorse: When realizing how cruel her methods towards protecting Unico was by constantly wiping his memories and endlessly separating him from his friends. Zephyrus, the Spirit of the West Wind starts shedding tears as she wishes there was a way to end Unico's cycle on forgetting his friends and his own identify.

@ Foreboding Fleeing F Lock

  • Sleepy Hollow (1999): Jonathan Masbeth's murder is preceded by lots of sheep and deer running out of the woods in terror, alerting Masbeth to ready his gun and prepare to open fire at the Headless Horseman from his lookout post. The warning does him no good.

@ Damsel out of Distress

  • Downplayed in Intermedio when the villain captures the protagonists and ties them up with barbed wire. Malik is the one who manages to get out of their bounds and then free Gen. Still, she is the one who then manages to find the hidden exit of the room they were dumped in, helps carry Malik out when he can barely walk, and then overpowers their captor and takes his Revenant Zombie-summoning necklace from him when he tries to stop them.

@ The Fall Guy (2024)

@ The Spiderwick Chronicles (2024)

@ Arsenic and Old Lace

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Teddy and Dr. Einstein may be less prominent than Mortimer, Jonathan, and the aunts, but provide some of the most funny and heartfelt moments of the story.

@ Jeremiah

  • Ghost Story: In the pilot, some patrons at a bar in Clarefield discuss a story that victims of the Big Death aren't entirely dead and, in Chicago, they wake up every night to prowl the streets looking for their kids, although this is more of a story that people who miss the old world want to believe rather than something to scare each other with.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In "To Sail Beyond the Stars," after the owner of a profitable business is murdered, Kurdy half-seriously suggests to Jeremiah that they could retire from their scouting duties, take it over, and avoid the kind of danger they keep getting into on the road. Before they can consider it further, a local tough announces that he is taking the place over instead, and they drop the idea.

@ Hank the Cowdog

  • In The Case of the Tender Cheeping Chickens, Hank gets a rather devious victory over Pete when Pete marches into a chicken cage to eat the chicks they have both been tempted to eat throughout the book. Hank seizes the opportunity to lock the cage door and alert the humans, catching Pete red-handed and (probably incidentally) making him too scared to eat any of the young birds.

@ Personalized Afterlife

  • Everybody Lies In Hell: Anyone who enters Hell has their own private Hell that is modeled after a place that meant something to them in life (often where they died) and comes with a Limited Wardrobe, but those who are less able to process what happens drift out of their private Hells and end up either punishing themselves for eternity or trying to pretend they're still alive in someone else's private Hell. Most injuries last for eternity, and eventually, souls who are hurt badly enough, lose their sense of awareness, or did certain evil acts descend to a dungeon cell where demons torture them nonstop. Self-Inflicted Hell is also at play in the story, as how bearable a private Hell is often depends on how much someone thinks they deserve to be punished, and it's possible to escape that feeling if you accept what you have done but feel you have managed to redeem yourself.

@ Justice (DC Comics)

The Legion of Doom members only start wanting to take over the world rather than actually save it after being mind-controlled.
  • There are a few moments in earlier issues which suggest that at least some of them may really care about the world as more than just something to rule over, such as when Cold talks about hoping his actions will stop the apocalyptic nightmares he has and Manta says that Aquaman deserves a brutal death for causing the visions he saw, both of which might have Undercover When Alone implications otherwise.

John doesn't really erase everyone's memories of the heroes' identities at the end but only thinks he did.

Heroes like Elongated Man were targeted but left alone due to the brainwashed villains assigned to abduct them Fighting from the Inside.

Hal's nieces and nephews, Damian Wayne, Dolphin, Diane Meade, Uncle Dudley, Lana Lang, Sapphire Stagg, Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Catwoman, Harold Allnut, Stephanie Brown, Silver St. Cloud, Captain Frye, Patty Spivot, Tina McGee, and various other friends and loved ones of Justice League members were also kidnapped but are offscreen in the background or were targeted but escaped.

The surgical procedures Brainiac introduced to Earth as part of his Evil Plan are cleansed of their corruptive attributes and contribute to the Utopian future in the Legion of Superheroes time.

@ The King Nobody Wanted

  • Ned and his companions have a surprisingly warm and insightful (on both sides) meeting with Septon Daeron and both Ned and Daeron give each other some comfort over their respective worries and both indulge in some acts of charity. Also, despite a potential Broken Pedestal-inducing up-close look at the leaders of the Faith of the Seven, the pious Gerant asks Daeron for a blessing as they part ways and makes it clear that he still respects him a great deal.

Broken Base.Transformers:

  • Do Transformers count as Mecha? Some argue they count since they're giant robots with Japanese origins, while others argue they don't since they're sentient beings instead of robots piloted by humans like traditional mecha.note  This debate can send both Transformers and traditional mecha fans into a frenzy, which is not helped by the two sides sharing a Fandom Rivalry.
