Sony is definitely gonna walk back on this, this whole situation has become absolutely ridiculous.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Steamcharts show no real dip in players (beyond the natural downward trend the game's been on that's just natural for a game to have over time).
So Sony will probably just walk it back coz well they already have the psn info of anyone who still plays the game. They can just claim they listened to community and have their cake at the same time.
This honestly reads more like an overreach from Steam than from Sony. What's likely going on is with everyone going "oh you can't have an off-region account without breaking Sony's TOS" Steam feels pressured to cover their ass, ironically by enforcing said TOS more than Sony ever has. Given some of the sloppiness in this delisting it wouldn't surprise me if Steam grabbed a list of PSN regions and banned anything that wasn't on it.
This whole mess really highlights how much power perception has in shaping reality. We have essentially willed an enforced PSN out-of-region ban into existence. Rules only have power when they're complied to, and if enough people believe a rule exists then it effectively does. So now Sony has manifested before them an out-of-region prohibition policy that they are now obligated to either accept or actively revoke. At this point Sony just needs to backtrack everything, accept the L no matter how unfair it is, and pray to God that PC gamers take that and let this move on.

You think that could happen? Executives are some of the most spiteful assholes around.
It could, spite or not this can cost them a lot of profits.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I hope so, at the very least so everything can go back to normal next week and we can focus on deactivating the TCS.

It's not about the gold; it's about the glory. It's def on sale in Canada.
EDIT: You're looking at a specific package. The Japanese version.
Edited by Ghilz on May 4th 2024 at 9:04:51 AM
A few of those countries that still have available prices seem to have been ones that were now lock out. The Hell's going on?
They weren't? Slimcoder last page linked to a package instead of linking to the actual game.
I pray people to learn how a website works before linking to it with wild claims.
In addition to deslisting at least one PSN country (Vietnam), whoever made the change also accidentally delisted it in every overseas and island territory in the world even if the country that owns them is in PSN.
Some of these country restrictions have their own regional version of the game, such as Japan... which has its own Steam page and has a Japanese dub.
Yes, that's the one people are pointing to and going "Steam delisted the game".
Was it actually ever for sale in vietnam? Coz steamDB has no price history for the region, which implies it never was for sale there.

I'm reasonably certain Gibraltar and American Samoa do not have regional versions.
Edit: there are definitely Vietnamese citizens who play through Steam and it wasn’t delisted there until a few hours ago, don’t know if they had regional pricing.

To be fair buying the game in steam doesn't require it to be on sale in your location. VP Ns exist.
Huh so I guess the fears of the delist has been overexagerrated.
My apologies for not using the right page.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I dont even know if steamdb even tracks delistings. It does track regional pricing.
So gonna have to take it on the honor system that it's delisted anywhere till someone posts a source.
...It definitely was showing them a few minutes ago, I was reading them off of Steam DB and that's where everyone on reddit was getting it, but they seem to have hidden it (or I'm just braindead) because I can't find it again reopening the page.
Edit: ah I'm stupid, it's not on the game listing itself it's on the commercial packages of the game.

The whole Steam things seems like a disorganized scramble.
I think all of the review bombing is just performative outrage over a petty issue, but that's just the cynic in me. How is this issue actually ruining the entire damn game?
Why waste time when you can see the last sunset last?If you live in 100+ countries then starting next month... You can not play it, period..
You will be effectively banned because of where you live.
That is fair enough actually.
Why waste time when you can see the last sunset last?Sony is bad with data security so people don't trust them. A lot of P Cheads are extremely paranoid (yesterday my friends were bitching about the fact that barber shops even ask if you want an account for the shop that requires a phone number) about cybersecurity and the like. Ergo because this is sudden its bad. I also think the fact its a mandatory link to an outside account on a different game platform to be asinine and unnecessary.
Some statements from the dev team
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Everybody now has a completely justified response for making a completely functioning game literally unavailable to people when it was before. I dont get how doing this is a defendable position.
