MeTV's Toon In with Me

Interestingly, I don't think any of the confirmed cartoons (especially the ones from the late 90s-early 2000s) were ever cable-exclusive. That being said, I admittedly threw out the notion that we would ever get (or need) a free over-the-air cartoon channel again (especially with the death of Qubo a few years ago).

I still think it's great that we have internet-based live options now for MeTV Toons, but it's huge that those with poor/lacking stable internet still get some decent cartoons over the antenna.

Holy cow, that line-up is utterly stacked.

Kwicky Koala is an odd choice, as it's far from a classic. It's only notable because it's the last animation work done by Tex Avery—in fact, the only reason it got made was to give Avery a job (Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera admitted to greenlighting some shows just to keep their people working).

Marine Boy...that was one of the first anime ever brought to the US. It'd be neat if they'd have a block of "classic" translated anime, like Astro Boy, Speed Racer, Battle of the Planets and such.

Oh god, I was kidding around in my head, but now that it IS in the lineup I am HORRIFIED, kwicki koala is the sort of thing that DOES deserve the embargo Coyote Vs Acme got.

It makes me wonder if they're just throwing on whatever they could get the broadcast rights to.

And I don't necessarily mean that as a complaint, mind you—name a show, and it was probably someone's old favorite.

Admittedly Kwicky Koala isn't my favorite classic cartoon either (the character always just sorta felt like a less interesting Droopy to me), but I don't really mind it being on the line-up. It's just one show among what sounds like a ton coming to MeToons anyway.

Yeah, it really sounds like they've got a ton of variety, from a lot of studios and eras.

Pardon me while I mentally slap CN around for showing huge blocks of the same 6 shows for their entire schedule every frickin' day...

Hasn't Cartoon Network's schedule been gaining more variety the past year, especially with the Checkered Past block?

I have to admit that while that IS astonishingly varied for a 2024 schudule, Me TV Toons has everything and the kitchen sink. Like more than ten shows at once!

It's a testament to how bad it's gotten that you look at that and call it "astonishingly varied." And to be fair, it is astonishingly varied—compared to how it's been.

This is to say nothing of CN's tendency to bury certain shows (Justice League Action, anyone?).

I mean, Toons Network has got so much stuff in the offing, they may actually show different stuff on different days of the week...

I know and it sad.

A new interview with Weigel's Neal Sabin (by the Antenna Man, good channel) name-dropped a couple of shows, including a few new ones not shown in the promotional material.

• Mr. Magoo / UPA toons
• Punkin' Puss and Mushmouse
• Ghostbusters (Sony is involved, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the lesser Filmation show.)
• Police Academy: The Animated Series
• Thunderbirds

July 27 will be a birthday marathon for Bugs Bunny.

Also, as implied by Jerry Beck in his Cartoon Research blog, expect the shows to be in rotation throughout the year. Some of the aforementioned ones may not be airing at the same time.

If they've got Thunderbirds that means they can access the Supermarionation stuff, which means even more new possibilities.

As for Ghostbusters - it could easily be both... who knows?

Which Magoo, though? The TV ones or the theatrical shorts? I could easily see both here, too, which means that Totally Tooned In could be on the schedule.

Me TV Toons has its own channel now. What to do? Make a new topic on the forums, or ask a mod to rename the thread about the block to be about the new channel?

Rename it to simply: MeTV Toons.

I feel it would be redundant to have two different threads for essentially the same context.

Second the motion to just rename this thread, yeah.

I about to holler but then realized I am not the first poster. How can we rename it then? Should I ask the first poster to do it? Holler the first post?
