Mine too, which is why reported them for spam.

The fact that they're practically begging people with accounts to buy shares makes me think it's going to tank. They're still not net profitable and they seem to be betting big on selling data to train AI models.

The current investors don't want to be the ones holding the bag when the stock actually goes public.

Me? I'm kinda cautiously indifferent about it. I've been on DeviantArt and the art side of Tumblr for so long, that I'm now using Reddit for mostly watercolor-related stuff.

I find Reddit useful for when I need anything technical and for whenever youtube fucks something up like usual but I'm not too plussed if it goes down.

I joined for the League of Legends stuff, but found that it was quite the cesspool of negativity. I still use it, but I’m wary of posts that announce changes ‘cause I know there’s gonna be people bitching about it.

I suspect Reddit plans to pay the bills via spamming ads akin to Facebook, because lately they've been adding in ad banners everywhere on the site. Getting real annoying too since some of the ads can be a bit difficult to differentiate from ordinary Reddit threads.

Sounds like I left the site just in time.

They aren't sharing stocks, they're letting users who live in the USA buy stock at the same price as stock traders.

The directed share program is for class A stock, which has 1/10 the voting power of their class B stock.

Companies generally don't sell enough shares to let anyone have a controlling interest, since that's inviting a hostile takeover.

This is gonna be rambling and an unpopular opinion.

I had been honestly inquisitive of Reddit and the API changes, and yet with all what has happened and understanding, I'm still confused and out-of-the-loop. How's the overall vibe there currently, because I had been using it more and more when I had my desktop computer and more so around the time Musk bought Twitter and the API protests.

Frankly I don't seem to be affected by the API changes that much, since I use the desktop version, and the subreddits I usually interact more on on niche subreddits like pens and art supplies, though I have to ask you what are your reactions by the changes in the context on Reddit through desktop.

I took the rerun of r/place last year as PR damage control over the API changes.

People are getting spammed by 'Reddit cares' essentially its supposed to send you a message if your post is concerning from a mental health point of view but its abused as a downvote

It's a troll bot I think. It scans comments on popular subreddits and automatically sends one.

I've only ever seen it used as a trolling technique. Reddit just keeps it around for liability reasons.

I turned off mine. I dunno if I should turn off chat, since I use the Old Reddit, and I don't chat much on Reddit.

Huh, I wondered what some of those were about.

Dang it, I legit thought getting sent a reddit check was because someone was concerned about my mental health.

Turns out getting those were just insults. I have like 8 of those.

Being a popular meme maker has it's downsides.
