Imagine a live-action Scooby-Doo show, but based on the Velma show. I would not want to be in that timeline.
I honestly didn't mind the live action Scooby Doo movie. Sure, it's a bit too raunchy for the Scooby Doo franchise, but it was a bit fun to watch.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I love the live action films, though part of that is because they were a big part of my childhood. I like how they mix being a parody and a straight adaptation, it's a lot of fun. Plus all of the casting, with Matthew Lillard especially, was perfect. Sarah Michelle Gellar deserves a freaking Oscar (I'm only being slightly hyperbolic) for that scene where she plays Daphne-being-controlled-by-Fred, she really feels like Freddie Prinze Jr.'s character.

Actually, the live action movies helped introduced Matthew Lillard to the Scooby Doo franchise and he would become the voice for Shaggy in future projects.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Yup. He officially took over from Casey Casem (who did one last role as the voice of Shaggy's dad in Mystery Inc before his death).
And Lilard is good too. It's actually hard to tell the difference between him and Casem.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, Lillard was a really good replacement for Casey.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I think Matthew Lillard in general is such an underrated actor. Like Casey Kasem was as well.

That's all the proof I need that he was a big deal.
One Strip! One Strip! And Robin the Boy Wonder (in the '60's, 70's, and early 80's). And Alex in Josie and the Pussycats. And Mark from Battle of the Planets.
Lillard isn't an exact match for Kasem's Shaggy, but he gets the spirit of it right, and he puts a lot of character into his performance. And he's lots better than Scott Innes.

I love Battle Of The Planets, I know its censored to heck and back, but it was a very good show anyways, and it was one of the worlds first animated dramas, even as sugary and as neutered from Gatchaman it was.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. This one in particular is one I remember because the Josie and the Pussycats animated series crossed over with Scooby Doo during the New Scooby Doo movies phase, so Casem was doing double duty as Alex and Shaggy.
Strange times.
One Strip! One Strip!Surprised they didn't collaborate with Archie again (as they did for Tiny Titans/Li'l Archie) to do a Scooby-Doo Team Up with Jat P.
And while it may or may not have been intended for Kasem's last role in a Scooby project altogether, his bit in Mystery Incorporated finale Come Undone does work like a nice passing of the torch.
If they're doing a live action Scoob show, I'd personally cast Topher Grace as Bill Mclemore.
Fitting for perhaps the biggest hater in Scooby lore.

So confession. I don't hate the Scooby Doo live action movie. It's very flawed but I can't say it's awful. I would have loved the unrated version instead of you know, fart jokes, but life isn't fair.
Sometimes you gotta take what you can.
