Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

Prince Huepow, God of Platforming Pocket Pals (Hewpoe)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyupo.png
His true form

  • Hall of Game Characters
  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: The Moon Kingdom's crescent symbol
  • Theme music: I'm On Your Side
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Portfolio: Floating Limbs, Non-Player Companion, powers the Wind Ring, Prince Incognito, Royals Who Actually Do Something, Voluntary Shapeshifting, gives Klonoa Fake Memories of them always being friends but starts to like him for real, Manipulative Bastard, feels guilty for using Klonoa, Disney Death, delivers a Cruel Twist Ending, his appearances in spinoffs contradict all of this, his name is spelled "Hewpoe" in the Wiimake
  • Domains: The moon, wind, deceit, guilt, memories
  • Herald: The Moon Queen
  • Complicated relationship: Klonoa
  • Allies: Princess Luna, Nebby (as Lunala), Naminé
  • Enemies: Joka, Lenna, Nightmare Moon, Dr. Eggman
  • Huepow is a spirit who lives inside the wind ring, a magical object that allows its bearer to inflate mooks. Klonoa met him while walking in the woods one day, and they've been best friends ever since. Except... that was all a lie. He's actually the humanoid prince of Cress, the long-hidden Moon Kingdom, who summoned Klonoa from another world and gave him fake memories so he could save Phantomile from Ghadius' nightmares. However, during their adventure, he grew attached to Klonoa, and felt horribly guilty when he told him the truth. When Klonoa was forcibly sucked out of Phantomile, Huepow was on the verge of tears.
  • Huepow was chosen to represent Platforming Pocket Pal because because he disappears into the wind ring during gameplay, allowing him to stay with Klonoa at all times. Naturally, he reunited with Klonoa shortly after ascending... and it was very awkward. Klonoa didn't hate Huepow per se, since he'd long since come to accept his role as the Dream Traveller, but Huepow still felt too guilty to talk to him. However, when they learned Joka was causing trouble in the Pantheon, they teamed up to stop him.
  • Lenna was horrified when she learned about what Huepow did to Klonoa. Despite his repentance and best intentions, she just can't forgive him. It's eerily similar to what Delvin did to her — altering her memories and then manipulating her because he thought it would save the kingdom, but instead only corrupting it more.
  • Naturally, Huepow gets along with moon-related deities. He especially sympathises with Princess Luna, who was sealed away in the moon, much like how the Moon Kingdom was sealed off from the rest of Phantomile for a long time. Luna can also enter dreams, which Phantomile is made of; every night, all of its inhabitants' dreams pass through a crystal in Cress so they can be used to shape the world. However, he's enemies with Luna's Superpowered Evil Side, Nightmare Moon, because she tried to cover the world in darkness like Ghadius. Huepow also gets along with Nebby's Lunala form even though doesn't have any powers over the moon — she just happens to have the aesthetic. He doesn't take kindly to Dr. Eggman, who once blew up half the moon.
  • Huepow has a lot in common with Naminé. She was forced to alter Sora's memories to make him think she was his childhood friend instead of Kairi, who she was a clone of. She hates using her powers, and eventually restored Sora's memories to normal, but he had to forget all about her as a side-effect. Fortunately, she eventually got a happy ending... which is more than can be said of Klonoa. While he doesn't lose his memories after each adventure, contrary to popular belief, there's no indication that he's ever regained his original memories, and Huepow doesn't know if he can.

Luffy will probably be friends with King-Ohger since he is friends a few good royalty members. but that contrasts against how he sees the Celestial Dragons who are royalty above royalty in One Piece and are the worse of what aristocracy have to offer. And the Five Elders are the leaders of the World Nobles.

Done with Limpet.

Henry Limpet, God of Aquatic Transformations

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rszlimpet.png
Limpet as a fish (Left, with Crusty on top) and when he was a human (Right)
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: A fish with glasses
  • Alignment: Lawful Good
  • Portfolio: Toon Transformation from Human to Fish, Like a Duck Takes to Water, Blind Without 'Em, Animal Talk, Super-Scream, A Fish who Participated in WWII
  • Domains: Transformation, Navy, Fish
  • Heralds: Ladyfish, Crusty, George Stickle
  • Allies: ABZU Diver, Ariel, Melody, Aquaman, Flipper, Ecco, James Steven Patterson, Mike Powell, Captain America, Nemo, Marlin, & Dory
  • Enemies: Joe (Help! I’m a Fish), Ursula, Operation Kraken, Nemesis, The Cyclops
  • Wary of: Orm the Ocean Master
  • Source of Interest for: Steve Zissou
  • Henry Limpet is a shy bookkeeper who is very fascinated with fish to the point of wishing that he could be one of them. He gets his wish after falling off a pier and turning into a tilefish. After getting himself accustomed to being an aquatic creature and making friends with a couple of them, the United States gets involved with World War II and Limpet decides that it’s the perfect opportunity to help the US Navy after being previously rejected by them for having poor eyesight. With the help of his friend George Stickle, Limpet uses his “thrum” to help the Navy sink Nazi U-Boats and is successfully able to thwart the Nazi’s counterattack plan involving missiles that home in on the sound. Having found his purpose in life and finding love with Ladyfish, Limpet bids farewell to his former wife Bessie (who married Stickle afterwards) and has since been involved with other aquatic creatures.
  • Plenty of time has passed since Limpet has lived in the ocean, content with his lifestyle. At one point, Limpet was given an invitation by an unknown person who heard about his feats in WWII to have a conversation with him about additional opportunities. The person on the raft mentioned that there have been a lot of undersea discoveries since WWII and that it was going to require more than Limpet’s knowledge of fish to survive the seas, including oceans far away and more fantastical. When the question of being offered a chance to switch between fish and human forms came up, Limpet turned it down citing that he’s fine how things are as is given how he didn’t have much confidence as a land-dweller. The person on the raft then remarked that there’s always something waiting at the bottom of the ocean when one least expects it before leaving. Some time afterwards, Limpet found a sunken ship with plenty of books explaining what that person was talking about, with Limpet learning a lot about how the world has changed and what to expect from it.
  • The last anyone (or at least Stickle) heard of Limpet was when he was out training dolphins. Regardless of how that turned out, Limpet learned that there were some highly intelligent dolphins who were unlike anything he had discovered beforehand. This came in the form of Flipper, who has helped humans out on a regular basis against various enemies, and Ecco, who has fought against aliens and traveled across time to prevent terrible futures from happening. It was just a small taste of how distinct aquatic life can be in terms of what can be accomplished even if two creatures are of the same species. It didn’t take long for Limpet to get along with these two dolphins and they have proven to work great with him.
  • Joe was one fish who Limpet found to be troubling for many reasons, not the least of which was having an antidote that not only could increase a fish’s intelligence, but turn them into human. While Joe couldn’t care less about the exact reasons why the formerly human Limpet turned into a fish, he still thinks Limpet shouldn’t be using his abilities to help other humans. That hasn’t stopped the rather dark thought of using the antidote to revert Limpet back into a human and drowning him from crossing Joe’s mind as the pilot fish found it to be darkly amusing to see someone else die the same way he once did. As much as Limpet prefers being a fish over being a human, he believes that one shouldn’t declare their superiority over others based on his experiences and has done what he can to thwart Joe’s plans of using fish to overthrow humanity, especially considering how Joe is planning to kill him.
  • Ariel may as well be Limpet’s polar opposite in terms of motivations given that she is an aquatic being interested in the surface and wanted to be part of them instead of a land-dweller who is fascinated with sea creatures and wished to be one of them. They still got along with each other very easily, though Limpet found the circumstances involving Ariel heading to the surface involving the devious Ursula to be frightening (and Ursula as someone who Limpet wouldn’t want to be near with given her treachery and taking advantage of someone else’s wishes). What Limpet found fascinating about Ariel was that she had a daughter named Melody who was interested in the sea, ended up being a mermaid as a result of meeting Ursula’s sister Morgana, and Melody opted to keep in touch with both her land-bound family and the sea following Morgana’s defeat. Melody was more than curious about Limpet, a former human who was interested in the sea and became a fish who was able to keep in touch with some surface-dwellers and Limpet was just as welcoming to her as he is to Ariel.
  • Merfolk in general were something that intrigued Limpet given that they’re part human and part sea creature. Aquaman was one such figure who Limpet took a liking to given his heroics and how Arthur Curry has done what he can to help both the people under the sea and on land. Orm the Ocean Master, one of Aquaman’s primary rivals, was someone who Limpet was very wary about given his ruthlessness and his opinion of land-dwellers being mixed at best. That Limpet was a human who became a fish and embraced the aquatic lifestyle was something that Orm found amusing, but even if Orm does have a better side to himself, his generally contentious relationship with Aquaman and fights for the aquatic throne was something that Limpet doesn’t want to get involved in.
  • There were a few aquatic creatures such as sharks that were dangerous enough as is for Limpet to hide back then. In the years since WWII has come and gone, he still has to be careful of aquatic predators, but there have been a multitude of fantastical sea monsters larger than most regular predators that a “thrum” wouldn’t be enough to fend them off and all Limpet can do is hide until the coast is clear. Limpet was able to find some fish to be friends with including a trio consisting of Nemo, Marlin, and Dory. It weird enough that Limpet was originally a human before becoming a fish given that Nemo, Marlin, and Dory see humans as strange unknowable creatures, but Limpet was another figure who helped them get accustomed to the fact that there are humans who are as friendly as he is and the trio is willing to tag along with him whenever possible.
    • Bikini Bottom was very strange for Limpet given that the place was full of fish having human-like behavior in contrast to himself being a human who transformed into a fish. It might as well be an aquatic equivalent of a regular land-centric human society according to him (and arguably some others). Seeing all the hijinx go on in that setting made Limpet briefly wonder just how crazy things could be on land. It was a bit awkward knowing how there are some aquatic creatures who could walk like humans, live like humans, and not be a mer-person, but it was still unusual to see how aquatic beings like Spongebob Squarepants live a life not that different from regular humans even if they sometimes ended up on dry land where humans are for one reason or another.
  • As much as all these threatening fish and fantastical aquatic monsters have made navigating the seas more difficult for Limpet, a diver known only as The Cyclops was a far bigger problem for him in many ways. A fish wearing glasses already sounded like a dumb souvenir that could be sold at Shell City’s gift shop, but that wasn’t going to prevent The Cyclops from adding something even more tacky onto the already bespectacled fish after forcibly taking him from the ocean. Luckily for Limpet, not all divers were as threatening as The Cyclops and the ABZU Diver quickly got along with Limpet as she did with all other aquatic lifeforms in addition to getting in the way of The Cyclops’ schemes. Not only did the ABZU Diver show Limpet that there were many unique underwater worlds out there, but also helped him have an easier time getting through these strange and powerful sea creatures even if Limpet is still uneasy around them.
  • After being turned down by the Navy due to his near-sightedness, Limpet was able to help them as a fish in sinking Nazi U-Boats. He was dismayed to learn that despite WWII being over for a long time, there were plenty of Nazis who haven’t given up in trying to defeat their enemies and have set up plenty of elaborate plans to do so. Even worse was that those Nazis were capable of creating highly advanced weapons to pull off such schemes and that included plenty of underwater weapons that would require much more than just turning their own homing missiles against them. Since Limpet being a fish meant that he could only do what he could against these aquatic weapons, he had to turn to Allied soldiers who had experience in sinking at least on Nazi U-Boat. He expected these soldiers to be surprised at meeting a talking fish given how shocked Stickle was after seeing what Limpet had become, but Limpet was just as surprised at seeing how some of these soldiers who supposedly were given a certain designation among the military were capable of doing tasks outside of said field. Captain America was one of those WWII figures who Limpet befriended and it wasn’t just because of Cap’s heroism and versatility in this particular case, but it was because Limpet knew what it was like for Steve Rogers to be originally rejected from taking part in battles before unusual circumstances gave them the means to participate in them. Limpet was able to help these versatile soldiers in finding and sinking any Nazi U-Boats that were roaming the seas through his “thrum”.
  • While Limpet’s WWII exploits have been documented, there was a degree of secrecy around them initially given the strange circumstances of Limpet being a fish. Such secrecy has since been meaningless as time passed and a few are interested in recording Limpet helping US soldiers. Steve Zissou is a documentary filmmaker who has made plenty of documentaries about undersea life and the idea of a talking fish involved with wars was too fascinating of an idea for him to pass up. Even if the battles in question were underwater, making a documentary about human wars from the perspective of fish was going to be a challenge regardless of Zissou being up for filming and Limpet hoping that such a potential documentary can make the public see aquatic creatures as being capable of taking down man-made threats against the innocent. Limpet’s encyclopedic knowledge of fish did help in bringing more accuracy to the undersea documentaries that Zissou and David Attenborough are planning to make even if the mere notion of a fish talking like a human was already divorced from reality to begin with.

@Huepow- ...I meant it when I said that I was done with the Pantheon for good. Wanted to give it at least a year before saying something in this thread again. But I admittedly have been browsing in here from time to time, and now I see a Klonoa character is getting worked on. And as the guy who reworked Klonoa himself and ascended both Joka and King of Sorrow, I must give input lol So, if y'all would allow me for a moment...

  • Within Klonoa's profile, there is already an entry about Huepow becoming a Herald to Klonoa and how the whole "Fake Memories" thing is an Elephant in the Room between them, albeit with Klonoa having internally forgiven Huepow for the mess but Huepow is criticized by pretty much everyone else. Of course, if you'd prefer to essentially retcon this for Huepow's own profile, more power to you. I've formally left this project, so I'm not gonna stop you lol Just something to consider (and would definitely warrant an edit in Klonoa's profile).

  • While not a moon-related deity nor involved in "memory manipulation", I would recommend an interaction with King of Sorrow. He's from the same series as Huepow, and not only has a few things in common with him (Royals Who Actually Do Something from long sealed off kingdoms of dream worlds, personally summoned Klonoa to said dream world, and manipulated him in some fashion for their own ends; in King's case, using a "puppet" to direct Klonoa at the very things he needed), but King of Sorrow is "theorized" to embody Klonoa's sorrow at being forced out of Phantomile, away from Huepow. After all, King of Sorrow resembles Klonoa's appearance from that game, with Huepow's blue "skin" and gold ring (er, scarf in his case), and the very name of his kingdom is Hyuponia. So, I can definitely see these two interacting lol Within Klonoa's profile, I had King of Sorrow cited as one of many deities who criticized Huepow for the Fake Memories thing, although I could see King getting along with Huepow otherwise for those aforementioned commonalities and their mutual friendship with Klonoa. Any further interactions I'll leave to you.

  • For moon-related deities currently not listed, there's David Zappa, Tyrande Whisperwind, Selene and Artemis, Chang'e, and Reisen Udongein Inaba. Going by his profile, David Zappa would definitely be an enemy to Huepow while the rest are allies (on good terms at the least). There's also Sokka, who was in a romantic relationship with a girl who would become his world's Moon Spirit. And lest we forget Majora's Mask, and by extension Skull Kid, who attempted to drop the moon on their world to destroy everything for fun.

  • Maybe an interaction with some Sonic characters, due to Huepow's resemblance to the Chao of their world? Shadow the Hedgehog at least would probably have something to say to Huepow, having been subjected to Fake Memories. On that note, Shūkurō Tsukishima is the current god of Fake Memories, having both given Fake Memories to Ichigo and his friends and having been given Fake Memories himself! From what I can gather from his profile, Shukuro would probably be allies with Huepow since he too feels remorse for his actions and has a complicated relationship with his victims.

And that's all I got. Although, I do wonder, is it a hard rule that co-deities of tropes have to be official duos from their source material? Because I think so long they come from the same series and/or embody the trope good enough, they ought to qualify, and Lolo definitely qualifies as a Platforming Pocket Pal as much as Huepow. Otherwise, the only trope she truly qualifies for is Cute Clumsy Girl, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's taken already. Regardless, looking forward to Huepow's ascension wink Best of luck, NitroIndigo.

Now, back to my exile.

I have a restoration idea in mind for the Treasury. Knowing its "range of effect" and other traits I am wondering how it would work in the Trope Pantheon

  • The Infinity Gauntlet: a restoration of an old idea. The titular gauntlet is perhaps the most powerful macguffin of Marvel Comics (at least excluding one-offs like the Heart Of The Universe). It's a gauntlet that can take in one of the Infinity Gems/Stones, which makes you at least a Reality Warper of the gem/stone's aspect. Having all six makes you The Omnipotent of whatever universe they're a part of, though like a TV remote doing so in another gets an out of range

@TrueChaos: They would be enemies with Bill Cipher, another god-like Reality Warper similar to Dagded who makes a game out of tormenting innocent mortals and has a similarly sadistic omnicidal streak and tendency to turn people against each other.

I am still interested in doing a Three Houses deity (there are just so many great characters). Does anyone have Bernadetta von Varley and/or The Shut-In reserved?

[up]Yes, I believe it was excessive menance. Lindhart is also reserved, as are Seteth and Flayn.

[up][up] I have Bernadetta penned as an idea for Static Role, Exchangeable Character as a dual profile with Marianne partly because killing two birds with one stone is a preferable direction and because both characters have similar narrative roles concerning lack of self-esteem, confidence, and reluctance in dealing with others as well (plus parental issues, though Bernadetta's situation is worse) plus their character development involve overcoming their faults and becoming more open about their thoughts and optimistic about their lives.

[up] Excessive did have Lindhart penned for Really Fond of Sleeping, but someone else suggested Princess Syalis for the same trope and got approved and eventually ascended under that.

[down] I'd still stick with what I've penned. Static Role, Exchangeable Character is a character role-based trope and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of alternate options either. Plus the similarities between Bernadetta and Marianne are close enough to see them as good fits for the trope.

That, and Sada and Turo are penned by RJ for Morally Superior Copy.

[up] They don't really fit the trope though, do they? They're just two characters with vaguely similar personalities and arcs. One never just flat out replaces the other in scenario. A better example of the trope would be something like Sada and Turo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet who serve identical roles in the plot depending on which version of the game you're playing.

[up] But again, they don't have the same role in the story, they just have kind of similar personalities. Like, even within Three Houses there's better examples of the trope. For instance, in the first mock-battle one opposing unit will recklessly advance on your position against their house leader's orders, forcing one of their allies to chase after them. If you're playing the Black Eagles or Blue Lions the roles are filled by Lorenz and Ignatz respectively. However, if you're playing the Golden Deer it's Ferdinand and Hubert instead.

Anyway, Sada and Turo were just one example. Pokémon alone is rife with cases including most version mascots; any of the games where the protagonist you don't choose appears as a rival or ally; and two gyms in Sword and Shield having different leaders depending on the version.

A non-Pokemon example would be Markus and North in Detroit: Become Human, where if the former dies before a certain point, the latter will take his place in future scenes (right down to having identical lines).

[up] — I can see your concerns, but I guess I'm the sort of person who tries to go with the choice where not too many tropes are taken, hence why I remain affirmed to my choice. Also, funny you bring up Ferdinand, Lorenz, and Hubert as I penned the former two for Tea Is Classy while the latter I have tied with Annette and Lysithea as an idea for Squishy Wizard (the current holders have a really weak profile BTW).

Pokemon, I'm actually quite contentious about because in addition to having so much representation in the Pantheon, most ideas regarding Pokemon tend to be pretty low in terms of interaction and background ideas and they tend to come off as repetitive and stale. By contrast, Bernadetta and Marianne have a lot of background and characterization for secondary characters and both characters have several things to explore on if a profile is made about them. Not sure what to express regarding North as I'm not really familiar with Detroit: Become Human, but if I had to confess, it's a better idea than most Pokemon suggestions.

Anyway, best to probably stop our debate here + I'm not in a rush to propose Three Houses ideas at the moment. Plus I'm mainly making a post so that we could be done with this page.

Lastly, if you're eager to contribute, here's a potential sandbox for you if you have ideas you'd like to pen down and store as well as remembering to suggest here in the future.

[up][up]I should note while Sada and Turo is my idea, it and any of my Pokemon ideas not in my main sandbox I am free with people adopting so long as they inform me first via PM. RJ Adoptables is there if anyone wants to take an idea, just inform me first (or if you think someone is a better choice for the trope, inform me too). I might change my mind and want to propose them one day, but they're there for anyone who wants to adopt them/propose an alternative in the more immediate future
