Cause Batman has Wolverine Publicity. He's an Ascended Extra compared to the original Crisis, but not really the focus in either movie so far—the first is about the Flash and the second the Psycho-Pirate and Harbinger.
That said, the story has changed a fair bit, mainly by merging characters and having reveals the audience knows saved for later.

From criticisms I heard Batman and the Batfamily’s role in the second movie is pretty bad. They are very incompetent and don’t accomplish much so all their screentime is very wasted focus that could have been given to anyone else.

Also yes that is a massive step down from his unique comic design. Wild the arrowverse at least tried to be faithful to how he looks their.

Jesus Christ, what did they do to my boy!? That has to be the most generic alien Big Bad design I've ever seen! He looks like every grey alien you would see used in parodies of extraterrestrial movies!
I didn't think that was his actual design but now I'm not sure.

Sadly he's shown multiple times with that look, including openly battling the heroes.

Looks like they saw the comparisons between him and the Antispiral and took it too literally.
So I haven't touched the movies yet and only saw the trailers and... why is there so much foucs on the batfamily and very little to the characters of the original comics? Was the story really changed a lot?
