I heard Tedium as TDM and was like "What's that acronym?"

And just now heard "Won't give" as "Forgive".

The first several times I listened to "No One Receiving" by Brian Eno, there was a lyric I heard as "Back to silence, back to violence". I liked it a lot, thinking it was a cool, powerful line mentioning how one can cause harm by not doing anything. The actual lyric is "Back to silence, back to minus", meaning something more like "the situation is so bad we're back to square one". While the latter makes more sense within the context of the song, I still think my mondegreen sounds cooler.

A bit obsolete. When playing a certain scenarion in Far Cry 3 and "Make It Bun Dem" came on...

What they sang:

We mash up the place
Turn up the bass
And make them all have fun

What I heard:

We must shoot the pistol
not the piss
and make 'em a-la fun

"Catchy Song": 'Cause it's so catchy, catchy, it's such a catchy song —> 'Cause it's so tragic, tragic, it's such a tragic song

Since it's immediately followed by "Gonna make you happy, happy...", that Mood Whiplash didn't make any sense to me!

Speaking of The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, I thought the lyrics "Like a stray dog on a free rein" from "Super Cool" were "Like a stray dog on a freeway".

When I first heard "Water" by Tyla, I swear I thought the lyrics were:

Make me sweat, benihana (instead of "make me hotter")
Also, when I first heard "Live Your Life" by T.I. featuring Rihanna when I was young, I remembered telling my sisters, "Hey did you hear this song called Take Your Time?"

When I first heard "On the Ground" by Rubblebucket (I'll link the song when I get the chance), I misheard the first two lines of the pre-chorus as

In this Neverworld, there's never trees / Never gardens among my knees

The actual lyrics were, as I found out shortly afterwardnote

In this Nether world, there's nether trees / Nether gardens among my knees

At breakfast today, I was showing my mom Alaska Fish and Game's page on Santa's reindeer, and told her that the image caption said "Rudolf, spotted this summer visiting northern Alaska".

Somehow, my mom misheard "Rudolf" as "Weird Al". Then again, Weird Al does have a song called "The Night Santa Went Crazy"...

This was probably intentional but when listening to the first verse of Voltaire's evil song I heard "To gentlemen I'm misfortune, to the ladies I'm surprise." In fact it's "Miss Fortune" and "Sir Prize", but I have strong suspicion, it is deliberatly chosen to sound that way.

There was a comment I saw from someone who misheard the title of "Party at the Leper Colony" by "Weird Al" Yankovic as "Party at the Leopard Colony", and for a while, they assumed that the song was about leopards eating the pieces off of people.

Probably doesn't help that one of the lyrics of the song is "Met a little lady so pretty and young / She was quite a talker 'til the cat got her tongue".

Just now discovered a line in "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)" by David Bowie is "She wails Jimmy's guitar sound", when for however long I've been hearing it as "She wails 'Gimme some drugs'". Surprisingly, I can't find anything definitively stating who Jimmy is, but it's probably Jimmy Page (or someone misspelled "Jimi").

Have another mondegreen, this one also from On the Ground by Rubblebucket. This one is the third verse. The actual lyrics (courtesy of Genius) are as follows:

We mortals are upside down / Feet like dove wings, we flap around / In the clouds there, I saw a message / Said "Quantum love, child I like your visage"

My mishearing of the lyrics:

We mortals are upside down / Feet like clawed wings, we flap around / In the heavens, they saw the message / "Should quantum lovechilds be right by you or be"

"The Only Thing I Know for Real," Actual lyrics -> What I heard.

"A desolate place." -> "Desperately placed."

"It's me that I spite," -> "It's me that I spy,"

"The only one, left, will run up on the dragon's back," -> "The only one, that, rides up on the dragon's back,"

"Wondering have I gone insane." -> "Wondering if I've gone insane."

"I must climb this mountain range / Looking downward from this deadly height / And never realizing why I fight..." -> "I must climb this mountain rain / Looking too and from this deadly/desert light(?) / And realizing why I fight..."

A couple others from the MGRR soundtrack, but I recently looked up the actual lyrics to "The Only Thing I Know for Real" so this sticks out more right now. Like I heard "Oh how pretty" from "Red Sun" as "Oh I'm ready" until I looked up the lyrics. I may post more of the other songs later.

In "You Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate, I thought the line "I believe in miracles" was "I believe in hair curls".

In "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5, for YEARS I thought the line was "That Sunday it would bring me back to you." It makes perfect logical sense, the song is literally called Sunday Morning. The line is actually SOMEDAY.

For a while, I heard the “and he gets to keep the tip” line from Pretty Fly For A Rabbi was “he gets to keep the dip”. That verse is about hiring the rabbi for a function, so I thought it meant parents who got him for their kid’s bar mitzvah party or whatever would give him the leftover dip from the buffet.

Here's a mondegreen I had as a teenager:

In Green Day's "When I Come Around", I misheard "so don't knock down my door" as "Santa knocked at my door". However, I didn't think this was a Christmas reference; I thought that first word was supposed to mean "Satan" or something else ominous.

In Coldplay's "Viva la Vida", I keep mishearing "feel the fear in my enemy's eyes" as "feel the fear in my enemy's ass". Uh... not sure if I want to know what's going on there.

Edit: I've also misheard "the secret side of me" in Skillet's "Monster" as "the secret sodomy".

[up][up] I just recently figured out that it's "I hear Jerusalem's bells a-ringin'" and not "I hear terrorists, and the bells are ringin'". A different Coldplay one I read somewhere and stuck with me is from "Clocks" - "I could not stop the senile gnome" (it's really "I could not stop that you now know", but I personally heard it more like "I could not stop the tune I know", which I like better than the actual lyric for some reason).

[up][up][up] I always heard either "sell donuts at my door" or "throw donuts at my door". Because it kinda seemed like a breakup song, I thought maybe there was some incident where a vindictive ex of Billie Joe drove by and threw donuts at his house or something [lol]

[up][up] I heard "sell donuts at my door" as well, and now I'm very amused by that mental image of Billie Joe's ex driving up to his house to throw donuts at him. [lol] (Ironically, "When I Come Around" is about a long-distance relationship, not a breakup.)

Similarly, I also heard "and it's me out on the prowl" as "and it's me out on the ground".

In The Simpsons episode "When Flanders Failed", Rod and Todd sing "Put On A Happy Face" and until I heard the song in a different context later, I misheard "Gray skies are gonna clear up" as "Race guys are gonna clear up" and thought it meant that the Flanders family hated car racing for being loud and crude (since I didn't realize the song wasn't originally from The Simpsons when I first saw that episode). This ended up being Harsher in Hindsight given what happens to Maude at a racetrack later in the series.
