[up]It seems to depend in a Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane way. Some writers like him being actually magic, some like him just being a split personality, some like keeping it ambiguous.

You can honestly go with whatever interpretation you like the most. I personally like the idea that the Ventriloquist is acting through Scarface but doesn't realize it and is very self-loathing.

Makes the parallels with Bruce and Batman more apparent. The traumatized rich kid acting out his fantasies to cope and the fictional persona overshadowing the real one.

Prefer it ambigious personally so it's up to the reader which is correct

I lean towards preferring ‘split personality’ with a dash of ‘whichever is funnier at the time’.

His bit in Knightfall definitely leant towards the split personality angle, with the Ventriloquist developing extra puppet personalities as he tried to get Scarface back. But I hear later stories lean the other way.

Oh, yeah. Dave was awesome (stupid name nonwithstanding). I always thought he would be a fun one to make the jump to the comics.

I like that he's literally engineered to be the greatest supervillain ever and falls apart when he realizes how artificial he is.

So with the recent retcon/reveal that Bea was actually a Spyral sent to keep in an eye on Dick in his Ric phase.

That means she willingly entered a relationship with him, knowing he's not in his right state of mind with the explicit intention to manipulate him.

Did Dick just sexually assaulted once again by another woman?

That is so ugly, quite possibly the first bad design I've seen from Jorge Jimenez. It looks like every suit Bruce has ever worn clumsily stitched together and melted into armor.

@Slimcoder were Dick and Bea ever sexually intimate while he was amnesiac?

Btw I wanna add some discussion on Batman from the Tim Burton films. I wanna say that I actually really like Keaton's portrayal to this day. His Bruce Wayne just feels very well executed for the most part, his only flaw being that he's a little normal for Bruce. While my favorite Wayne overall is still Christian Bale, I gotta admit that Keaton does a good job.

That said, while his Batman looks great visually (the design just pops off the screen) I think that the way he moves around is a bit wonky. Still, he fights better than Bale's Batman (who honestly sucks in combat on screen.)

The best thing about Keaton's Batman though is his Batmobile. That Batmobile is just perfect, it is the perfect on screen Batmobile in live action. From the Bat themed markings on it to its sleek look. It just screams, Batman.

Really hope this design is somewhat utilized for the comics. Because I hope comic batmobile is closer to this than say, the Tumbler.

Poison Ivy #22: Ivy lays the seeds of her inevitable resurrection by telling Janet-From-HR that "No matter how many times you cut down a weed, it always grows back". The issue ends with her about to be ripped apart by mushroom zombies. I do wonder what will happen to Janet after Ivy's death. Shacking up with Harley? (They did make out once during the series) Somehow becomes Poison Ivy II or gives birth to a resurrected Ivy? (Ivy's internal monologue mentions "everything that's ever been inside of us leaves traces of itself")

to be fair to the new costume bruce made it himself in a cabin. also in the issue savage is the new commissioner and failzur saves him and threatens to put back in blackgate but backs off. waller sends a squad to the manor to take down batman but damian is waiting and takes them out and failzur visits waller and she asks him to join her because she likes this new version of him. he declines for now and goes back to the cave where he reveals to damian an amazo army he is gonna implant the multiversal zur's into and damian finally gets its not his dad and is captured and failzur unveils a new robin he made.

Okay so Zur's masterplan sums up how insane the scale of Batman comics has become.

A robot army piloted by multiversal Zur's.

Why can't we just have Batman solving a serial killer case or a weird impossible theft?

[up] For something made on the fly you'd expect a more back to basic's approach in visuals instead of an thrift store nightmare.

Their was actually a comic where Batman fought a serial killer turned lich who wanted to zombify Gotham and that was less insane than this.

[up]When was the last time we saw just a low key detective story.

Man, remember when it used to be years between these gigantic scale "nothing will be the same anymore" Wham Episode plots so the book had time to actually breathe a little? Like, look back at the Knightfall era, easily my favorite Batman arc of all time, and it's not just nonstop back-to-back Justice League-level chaos; it's lots and lots of little stories that build up to and supplement the big events like Bane laying siege to the manor or Bruce fighting Azrael for the cowl. Or how the Morrison run - easily the best run in the 2000s - is mostly made up of seemingly episodic adventures that all tie together at the end of each major arc. We need more like that, less "GOTHAM IS DOOMED EVERY SINGLE DAY".
