Just to clarify, after that last post -
The Takbīr ("Allahu Akbar") simply translates as "God is greatest".
It's a very common phrase in Islamic prayers, and it's also used by Christians who speak Arabic.
Attributing it solely to "jihadi" Islamic extremism is a bit like associating "Amen" with anglophone Christian extremism.
So let's not do that.

Admittedly if someone shouts “Praise be to the lord” while doing a stabbing we would generally presume that they have Christian exstreamist motives.

He also pledged alliance to Islamic State.

This. You don't yell "God is great" while committing murder if your murder isn't religiously-motivated.
And if you say it in Arabic, while it's not a 100%, odds are definitely on the side of said religion being Islam.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Not arguing that, just emphasising the "solely". It's a thing extremists say. It's not a thing only extremists say.
But it's a thing only extremists say when killing someone.
Whoops wait I hadn't seen the saying and the murder were in separate news.
Wait... was it? I'm confused now. It's a bit ambiguous.
Edit: Well the part that's now clear to me was that you were reacting to the phrase "shouted jihady stuff including Allah Ackbar". I understand not liking this association.
...That said, as I mentioned, when killing someone, anything religion-related you say in Arabic becomes jihady.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Soooo.
As a Muslim, I’ll say that I am very appreciative of Mrph’s point and think it is a good one.
HOWEVER. I think a bit of the context here makes ominae’s comment a little bit different.
If somebody takes “As-salamu alaykum”, said in a friendly tone, as a hostile religious statement or becomes frightened of random Arabic on a bag (I think we know what image I’m referencing here), that’s pretty racist.
“God is Great” is not INHERENTLY a hostile religious sentiment but when a religious terrorist bellows it during a violent incident, especially when there has been an recorded trend of religious terrorists using it as a battle-cry, it might be a bit of an assumption or inference but it’s not the thinnest connection that racism tends to based on.
It’s not an inherent connection but it’s also not a random one, either. Saying it during prayer is mundane. Saying it during a violent incident, questionable.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Yes, but the original post was:
الله اكبر Allah Akbar is not "jihadi stuff", it is a word used in prayer.
Clarifying the misconception is important; otherwise, people may start taking it as a fact, that Allah Akbar is a word only used by "Jihadists" when killing someone, so the next time a Muslim says it in any context whatsoever, he gets called a terrorist.
So @ Mrph1's clarification was appropriate.
..............
An accurate statement may have been " The man responsible was heard shouting Allah Akbar during the stabbing, which raises the possibility that it was an act of terrorism"
I am aware that my post sounds like tone policing, a practice that I dislike, but still.

Well, it would be around how the Houthis ramped up their attacks on global shipping since Oct 7, their indiscriminate attacks on any ship under any flag despite claiming their are attacking only ships "associated" with a certain conflict.
The challenges on US and UK navies to provide proper escorts on shipping lanes, specially since the Red Sea straight is pretty damn narrow and how it affects things like trade routes, ship and cargo insurance and the economic pressure it creates on the global market and in Egypt due to the Suez channel being a major economic bonus for Egypt.
How the Houthis are making use of drones, helicopters and Iranian provided A Sh Ms and ballistic missiles. And the USN capability of intercepting those.
The nuance on registering ships under countries and flags, where you hardly get nowadays the ship being owned, operated and under the flag of the country that built it.

Reports I'm picking up mention that ex-Japanese Red Army terrorist Haruo Wako died at the age of 75 while serving his life sentence in Osaka Medical Prison. He's been there for a while after being moved from Tokushima Prison. I suspect he had medical conditions that the judge/s gave the OK.
